Job Summary of Frozen Section Assistant:

The Frozen Section Assistant provides support to the Dairy/Frozen Manager in maintaining the efficient performance and profitability of the Dairy/Frozen department. Responsibilities of this role include replenishing, rotating, and managing products in the dairy and frozen sections to uphold freshness, availability, and aesthetic appeal. Duties consist of tasks like unloading deliveries, inspecting expiration dates, arranging showcases, and ensuring correct pricing and labeling.

• Assisting the departmental manager with procurement tasks for the dairy and frozen areas, as well as ensuring inventory precision.
• Assisting department managers in handling margin, COGs, and the overall profitability of their department, with a focus on reducing shrink and maximizing the effectiveness of purchasing practices.
• Validating that all products currently available meet the established criteria of the company.
• Accepting unique orders and checking in on their status.
• Displaying products on shelves, endcaps, and interactive promotional setups.
• Aiding in coordinating and actively taking part in labeling, displaying, repositioning, tidying up, marking down, replenishing, stocking, and storing additional items.
• Guiding and monitoring department personnel as they undertake their assigned duties and responsibilities.
• Conducting active demos requires conversing with the audience, while passive demos involve a more straightforward presentation.
• Partnering with the department managers to deal with performance-related issues within the department.
• Aid in overseeing the initiation and termination of store functions, encompassing duties such as keeping track of the Daily Sales Report (DSR) and managing cash transactions along with fulfilling cashier closeout obligations.
• Responsibilities for register operations comprise overseeing backup cashiering tasks, handling customer returns, addressing complaints from customers, and managing changes in register shifts, including coverage during scheduled breaks.
• Safeguarding the welfare and security of both patrons and workers.
• Handling customer questions while following established company protocols, which may involve using health-oriented phrases or emphasizing nutritional benefits.
• Continuously improving product knowledge over time.
• Making use of SAP and inventory management software, along with sending emails and incorporating various IS applications as necessary.
• Candidates must be willing to work during evenings, weekends, and holidays as dictated by the store's scheduling needs. The job requires a five-day workweek, with employees expected to fulfill 40 hours of work per week and be present at mandatory store meetings.
• The role includes some manager on duty tasks while not being the designated manager responsible for the store's overall operations.

Qualifications of Frozen Section Assistant:

• It is recommended that applicants possess a high school diploma, GED, or similar educational background.
• Candidates with a background in natural foods are particularly encouraged to apply, with an ideal candidate having at least one year of experience in a grocery or retail capacity.
• Candidates with previous supervisory roles highly favored.
• Meeting the mandatory criteria by passing food safety training courses and certifications as per regulatory obligations and staying compliant by keeping certifications current and properly registered when necessary.

Physical requirements of Frozen Section Assistant:

• Applicants should possess the capability to lift objects consistently weighing up to 10 lbs., frequently handle 11-20 lbs., and occasionally manage loads of 21-50 lbs. Additionally, there is a need to be able to occasionally lift or carry items weighing 51-100 lbs. with the support of a team. This involves a range of lifting tasks of different intensities, from light to heavy weights, sometimes requiring collaborative lifting efforts.
• Needs to have the capacity to consistently push or pull loads up to 15 pounds and occasionally move objects within the weight range of 16 to 100 pounds.
• Being able to utilize a computer for functions like inputting data and using a mouse may be necessary at times.
• Consistent walking, standing, precise hand control, gripping, bending, twisting, and reaching outward are necessary skills for the duration of the work shift.
