Role and Responsibilities:

as a Dairy Associate, you will provide quality customer service within the Perishable Department. You will be responsible for maintaining departmental standards, delivering excellent service, and following company policies to ensure efficient operations and compliance with safety requirements.

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with fast, friendly, and accurate service.
  • Provide courteous and helpful support to other associates.
  • Use company tools such as ACIS (Average Cost Inventory System) and CAO ordering system effectively.
  • Receive deliveries, code where needed, rotate stock, and place in appropriate storage areas.
  • Ensure ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and display of merchandise follow policies and guidelines.
  • Maintain proper product levels in all areas of the Perishable Department, including meat, lunchmeat, frozen, dairy, and ice cream.
  • Process beef and grinds as directed by the production tool or as requested.
  • Wrap, label, weigh, and stock the meat case as required.
  • Assemble, disassemble, and clean the grinder as needed.
  • Clean and sanitize the department properly.
  • Maintain variety and departmental layout standards.
  • Ensure advertising and promotional materials for the department are properly utilized.
  • Adhere to company guidelines, policies, and standard practices.
  • Follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety guidelines and correct any unsafe conditions.
  • Report associate and customer accidents per Food Lion procedures to the Manager on Duty.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Wear the Food Lion uniform and name badge, maintaining a neat and clean professional appearance.
  • Successfully complete Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packets, and Training Aid courses.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical job requirements.
  • Problem-solving skills using technical information.
  • Must meet minimum age requirements to perform job functions.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Use computers and communication systems as needed for job functions.
  • Perform repetitive hand and arm motions.
  • Bend and lift up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Push or pull up to 75 lbs. occasionally and up to 2000 lbs. using a pallet jack.
  • Stand 100% of the time with frequent walking.
  • Handle cleaning and packaging materials, fresh produce, house plants/flowers, and household cleaners.
  • Perform frequent grasping and reaching at waist level, with occasional reaching above shoulder or below waist.
  • Meet established productivity standards.
  • Tolerate hot or cold work environments for up to 20 minutes at a time.
  • Have sufficient vision to check IDs, invoices, checks, and related documents.
