- Confirming that the staff adheres to the relevant state and county requirements for food safety certifications and registration.
- The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for ensuring that the store is meeting and/or exceeding expectations in the following areas:
- Analysis of store and department sales efficiency through the Sales per Labor Hour Ratio
- Typical Ticket Value, Quantity of Customers, and Expenditure on Sold Goods within Produce Sales
- EBITDA
- Confirms orders are placed with the correct vendors to ensure receipt of applicable discounts and preservation of profit levels.
- Ensures that on-hand stock levels adhere to company norms
- Keeping track of the variety of products provided, including:
- Frequent evaluation of departments to ensure the retention of top-performing items and the removal of those with exceedingly low sales
- Adhering to company regulations, new products are brought in consistently.
- Ensures perishables are rotated and stocked as per the guidelines set by the company.
- Markdowns are managed following the standard operating procedures of the company.
- Entrusted with supporting the Store Manager in the process of recruiting, educating, and overseeing all store staff following company policies.
- Conducts training for personnel, assigns tasks, and enforces accountability in task execution.
- Confirms that the master and daily schedules are correct, thorough, and aligned with the store's requirements. Ensures schedules are posted in a timely manner and allocates daily tasks based on company task sheets.
- Partners with department heads to assign staff for daily operational needs.
- Supervises and instructs the team to maintain a cohesive store identity and offer customer aid in all areas.
- Collaborates with managers from various departments to ensure that employees are trained to handle different tasks.
- Partners with staff to ensure adequate product knowledge to meet customers' needs, training staff on where to find answers to customer questions by utilizing store resources.
- Supports the Store Manager in concluding and executing all store staff performance reviews with feedback from department managers. Assists in approving wage enhancements if deemed suitable.
- Collaborates with department managers to interview and recruit new personnel to address store staffing needs.
- Manages all performance and disciplinary matters effectively, working alongside Human Resources for guidance and assistance.

- He or she is tasked with responding to customer questions in alignment with company standards, which includes utilizing Structure/Function statements and information on nutritional benefits.
- Performs operational tasks competently, ensuring completion of daily schedules, checklists, and opening and closing responsibilities.
- Validates the punctual completion of store paperwork and reports, such as the Monthly Manager's Report.
- Effectively manages the DSR and Manager's Cash duties, ensuring accuracy.
- Takes care of department manager inquiries during duty hours and supports in arranging coverage for lunches and breaks.
- Addressing various disruptions to daily business operations, such as managing loitering incidents, handling solicitation issues, responding to emergency weather conditions, and enforcing restroom etiquette.
- Follows a store-centric schedule that may involve working evenings, weekends, and being scheduled for 45 hours per week.
- Demonstrates to staff how to be supportive of decisions made by the home office, pays heed to instructions from headquarters, and accurately completes assigned tasks.
- Absorbs and abides by messages (memos, faxes, electronic correspondence) from the head office while telecommuting.
- Shows agility in handling evolving work demands to reach objectives.

Qualification of Store Support Operations Manager:
- High school diploma or GED required 1-2 years management experience in grocery and/or related retail experience, natural foods industry a plus.
- Proficient in managing evolving priorities.
- Being capable of fulfilling the prerequisites for food safety training and passing the necessary tests to obtain certifications as mandated by state and county legislation.
- Acquiring forklift certification is essential for anyone operating the machinery.
- Stay compliant by ensuring your food safety certifications are current through continuous education and registering with the proper agency when necessary.
- Excels in completing tasks promptly and with great organization, showing a sense of urgency.
