Store Seafood Assistant

Role and Responsibilities:

As a Store Seafood Assistant, you will actively participate in operational tasks to maintain product quality, ensure food safety, and deliver exceptional customer experiences.

• Offer courteous, personable, and knowledgeable support to clients.
• Monitor and restock seafood displays, ensuring products are rotated, tagged, and presented correctly.
• Assist customers in selecting seafood, provide cooking tips, and accommodate special requests.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and labeling standards.
• Monitor product quality and promptly remove unsalable items.
• Support seafood department leadership in achieving sales, margin, and labor goals.
• Assist with inventory control, backstock organization, and departmental cleaning.
• Adhere to store and department operating procedures.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Strong customer service skills and excellent communication abilities.
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Willingness to learn seafood handling, cutting, and preparation techniques.
• Ability to comply with food safety guidelines, procedures, and regulations.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience in retail, grocery, or food service is recommended but not required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Ability to lift loads up to 50 pounds.
• Standing or walking for 6 to 8 hours per shift.
• Frequent bending, squatting, twisting, and reaching.
• Work in wet and cold environments such as refrigerators and freezers.
• Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning agents.
• Use of knives, cutting tools, and other seafood handling equipment.

Compensation and Benefits:

The starting wage for this position is typically $15.00 per hour.
