Responsibilities of Produce Department Clerk:

  • Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store.
  • Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether in the designated department or elsewhere in the store.
  • Makes an effort to learn customers' names and address them by name whenever possible.
  • Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing items out of reach, loading or unloading heavy items, passing along suggestions or requests, and performing other tasks to enhance the shopping experience.
  • Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service to callers.
  • Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
  • Practices proper sanitation procedures and ensures the work area is always clean and neat.
  • Ensures an adequate product supply is available and follows or develops a production list.
  • Anticipates daily product needs, checks in products, puts products away, and may review invoices.
  • Replenishes and rotates product to maintain freshness.
  • Removes trash in a timely manner.
  • Prepares, finishes, and replenishes product as necessary.
  • Maintains strict adherence to hygiene, dress code, and company policies.
  • Reports to work as scheduled and on time.
  • Orders products and supplies as needed.
  • Prices products for customers as necessary.
  • Delivers orders as required.
  • Assists in other areas of the store as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications of Produce Department Clerk:

  • Below the level of a high school education or comparable work background.
  • Less than half a year of comparable or relevant work background.
  • Capacity to execute specific and uncomplicated written or spoken directives.
  • Capacity to handle a limited number of specific factors.
  • Fundamental arithmetic abilities such as basic adding and subtracting.
  • Proficiency in replicating numerical data, tallying quantities, and documenting details.
  • Proficiency in adhering to spoken or illustrated directions, recording identifying details, and asking for materials verbally or through written communication.

Physical Requirements of Produce Department Clerk:

  • The ability to engage in moderate physical tasks, which may involve lifting weights of up to 50 lbs on occasion, 20 lbs frequently, and 10 lbs consistently, is required.
  • Visual needs encompass the ability to see both nearby and faraway objects, gauge depth, identify colors accurately, and have a broad field of vision.
  • Proficient in ascending, maintaining equilibrium, bending, crouching, extending, remaining upright, moving on foot, exerting force, dragging, raising, gripping, sensing, communicating verbally, perceiving sounds, and executing recurring movements.
