Store Maintenance Worker

Job Summary of Store Maintenance Worker:

As a Store Maintenance Worker at ShopRite, you will contribute to a safe, clean, and welcoming workplace for both customers and team members. You will be responsible for performing maintenance and janitorial duties throughout the store as assigned by Store Management to keep the retail premises and fixtures clean and sanitary, particularly bathroom facilities, common areas, and floors. You will also help collect carts, manage waste and recycling, and keep equipment up to safety and sanitation requirements.

Responsibilities of Store Maintenance Worker:

• Maintain a clean, neat, organized, and safe store environment at all times.
• Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including all plumbing fixtures.
• Replenish restroom supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
• Clean floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, or vacuuming as assigned.
• Clean Associate breakrooms and other common areas as required.
• Monitor and restock cleaning supplies; notify management when inventory is low.
• Empty trash and recycling containers throughout the store and dispose of waste properly.
• Operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers and follow all safety protocols.
• Collect shopping carts from the parking lot and return them to the designated areas inside the store.
• Secure auxiliary doors when accessing exterior areas for cleaning or trash removal.
• Report equipment issues or unsafe conditions immediately to store management.
• Support other departments with maintenance-related tasks as assigned.
• Greet all Customers and provide them with prompt, courteous service and assistance.
• Observe safety and sanitation standards at all times, including proper chemical handling.
• Follow all store rules, policies, and procedures, including uniform and grooming standards.
• Perform duties in accordance with ShopRite Service Priorities (Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications of Store Maintenance Worker:

• Those below 18 years old are not permitted to use compacting balers, high-level order pickers, powered pallet jacks, and commercial floor-sweeping machines.
• The proficiency in English entails the ability to read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and comprehend the language proficiently.
• Talent for executing primary arithmetic operations.
• Proficiency in remaining upright and mobile for the entirety of a designated work shift.
• Proficient in flexing, twisting, extending, applying force, tugging, and regularly lifting 25 lbs., occasionally able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to tolerate dust, cleaning agents, and various temperature conditions.
• Ability to handle cleaning products and follow safety procedures consistently.
• Ability to engage with clients in a pleasant and valuable manner.
• Collaborating efficiently with others and adhering to managerial direction.
• Skilled at fulfilling all assigned shifts and complying with attendance rules.
