Cheese Clerk

Role and Responsibilities:

You will create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and help maintain a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return. You will assist the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals, monitor quality assurance standards, and collaborate with the Deli/Bakery team to engage customers.

• Provide exceptional customer service and offer product samples to help customers discover new items
• Maintain safety and cleanliness of the department and ensure compliance with food safety regulations
• Prepare, package, label, and inventory cheese products accurately
• Check product freshness and review sell-by dates, taking appropriate action to prevent shrink
• Inform customers about Cheese Shop specials and respond to product questions
• Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes using kitchen utensils and equipment
• Stock, label, and inventory department merchandise, reporting discrepancies to management
• Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, keeping accurate logs
• Reinforce safety programs by identifying and reporting unsafe conditions and incidents
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment and manage conflict professionally

Required Skills and Experience:

• Effective communication skills
• Basic math skills including counting, addition, and subtraction
• Ability to handle stressful situations calmly
• High school education or equivalent
• Comparable retail experience preferred
• Knowledge of department products to respond to questions and make suggestions
• Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when needed
• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a retail or grocery environment
• Familiarity with food safety and sanitation guidelines
