Job Summary of Retail Cashier:

As a Retail Cashier, you will provide friendly and efficient checkout service, handle customer transactions accurately, and maintain a clean and organized work area. You will support a positive shopping experience by assisting customers and promoting excellent service.

Responsibilities of Retail Cashier:

• Abide by and adhere to the established rules and protocols of the company.
• Always strive to maintain a tidy and well-groomed personal appearance in accordance with the company's personal appearance policy.
• Offer assistance in specialized assignments and carry out additional functions as assigned by management.
• Uphold productivity standards by following the guidelines outlined in the company's management planning.
• Support and uphold the safety standards of the company.
• Relay information about equipment repairs or maintenance required. Keep the work area free of debris and safety hazards to prevent accidents.
• Follow through on treating all associates with justice, respect, and honor.
• Perform precise price validation procedures.
• Regulate the overuse of store items such as ribbons, receipt paper, bags, and cleaning supplies.
• Document any discrepancies in pricing or items not in the system on the designated forms as found on the electronic point-of-sale terminal, and adhere to company policy by initiating timely price checks for resolution.
• Confirm customer IDs and abide by store procedures regarding check acceptance and the retail sale of tobacco and alcoholic drinks.
• Adhere to the company's procedures regarding an overabundance of cash in the registers and request a cash pickup following company policy.
• Stay vigilant and attentive to customers' actions and behavior to meet security standards.
• Notify a supervisor or security personnel of any abnormal behavior observed.
• Manage the processing of all kinds of store transactions, encompassing cash, checks, authorized Accounts Receivable sales, Electronic Payments, WIC, coupons, gift cards, bottle credits, refunds, lottery, Western Union, etc., following established company protocols and legal mandates.
• Always secure the register when stepping away to ensure the safety of the company's resources.
• Carry out necessary upkeep and promptly report any operational issues or defects in the equipment.
• Ensure the continuous compliance with store policy and state and local health regulations by maintaining overall cleanliness and sanitation standards.
• Acquire knowledge and skills to identify and differentiate among the different types of produce merchandise available in the store, including recognizing distinctions between varieties within the same category, such as apples and lettuces.
• Frequently conduct tasks associated with cashier and customer service roles.
• Carry out other assignments as given

Qualifications of Retail Cashier:

• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Demonstrated ability to perform the technical requirements of the job.
• Greet all customers and provide them with prompt, courteous service and assistance.
• Provide outstanding, friendly customer service.
• Record (scan) the purchases of a customer into the cash register efficiently and accurately.
• Collect money in the forms of cash, checks or electronic funds from customers and tender accurate change in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Provide customers and associates with refunds in accordance with standard practice.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Follow Anti-Money Laundering guidelines while processing Western Union, Money Orders, Prepaid Cards and Check Cashing.
• Prerequisite Training:
• Completed Cashier/Service Associate training packet

Physical Requirements of Retail Cashier:

• Continuously operate a range of equipment like a cash register, lottery machine, scanner, computer, and calculator, alongside frequently using hands to handle currency in both paper and coin varieties.
• Bend and raise objects weighing up to 15 pounds on a consistent basis, handle 25-pound loads frequently, and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Handle loads of up to 75 pounds through pushing or pulling as needed.
• Frequent actions of extending and seizing objects at a level near the waist, occasionally reaching above the shoulders or below the waist.
• Adhere to the predetermined performance levels for the role.
• Retain ample visual acuteness to scrutinize ID cards, checks, receipts, and other written materials.
• Remain standing all the time, with short walks occasionally incorporated.
