Job Summary:

Our Cake Baker is a key player in making sure our pastries look and taste amazing. In addition to providing unparalleled guest service, you'll create beautiful and delicious art for our guests and provide the sweets that will be the hit of their parties. As a Team Member, you'll be part of a team that emphasizes building lifelong relationships with our customers by focusing on understanding and exceeding their needs. As a member of the Bakery team, your primary responsibility will be preparing and decorating the products and cakes in the department to ensure only the freshest are available.

Job Requirements:

• Experience Prerequisite: Fulfillment of a skills assessment tailored to the job requirements; a period of 6 to 12 months in the field or completion of the Giant Eagle Apprenticeship program
• This educational expectation does not mandate the possession of a high school diploma
• Maximum Weight Allowance: Lift requirement not exceeding 50 pounds
• The age threshold is set at 18 years

Job Responsibilities:

• Relocate cakes from the prep zone to the sales section to complete the setup of tables and showcase units with bakery items.
• Enforce proper protocols to guarantee the store's out-of-stock percentage goals are met.
• Deploying merchandising principles effectively can result in increased sales and a positive customer perception.
• Manage custom orders received from customers both over the phone and in face-to-face encounters.
• Safeguard the quality of merchandise by monitoring the sales area for product dates and quality conditions to maintain customer satisfaction.
• Document daily instances of identified loss.
• Make safety the foremost concern in all aspects of our work to ensure the security of our team members, customers, and merchandise.
• Provide exemplary customer service by greeting customers and ensuring they are able to locate the products they are looking for. Bakery Team Members are also expected to have sufficient knowledge to answer questions and make suggestions to our customers.
• Galvanize your coworkers and diners by exemplifying a fervor for food and a readiness to exceed standards in providing superior dishes.
• Observe the approved practices for managing products and equipment following the food safety and safety guidelines to ensure a secure shopping environment.
• Adhere to safety and sanitation regulations by keeping equipment, tables, utensils, and surfaces free of dirt and debris.
• Arrange and decorate merchandise for the Bakery showcases and exhibits, routinely altering their positioning while following code dating procedures to ensure that only the freshest products are ready for purchase.
• Meet department standards by practicing correct safety and sanitation guidelines, emergency procedures, steritech protocols, proper lifting techniques, and maintaining cleanliness.
• Record special requests on Bakery products meticulously to ensure customers are pleased with the final result.
• Abide by department practices, daily arrangements, order placement, grasp of copyright policies, and correct product circulation.
• Regularly keep yourself informed about recent product knowledge and operational guidelines, such as categorized product information, tailored orders, cake selections, serving size standards, seasonal products, and color blending tactics.
• Enhance cakes by utilizing spatulas and pastry bags to ice them and add decorative touches.
• Prepare the frosting and products required for all cakes and other adorned goods by reading and understanding recipes, precisely measuring out ingredients, and properly mixing the product.
• Assist in maintaining the efficiency of Bakery storage areas by unloading incoming shipments promptly.
• Operator of departmental machinery, which encompasses mixers, scales, airbrush guns, knives, cut-proof gloves, and personal protective gear like non-slip shoes.
• Support in various other ways as required or specified.
