Dairy Team Manager

Job Summary of Dairy Team Manager:

The Dairy Team Manager oversees the daily performance and profitability of the dairy and frozen department while also training, guiding, and supervising all team members. In addition, Department Managers are accountable for their department’s overall results and must take on Manager on Duty (MOD) responsibilities during their scheduled shifts.

Responsibilities of Dairy Team Manager:

• Ensuring that delivering exceptional customer service is the top priority.
• Portraying integrity, responsibility, and excellence by conforming to all guidelines.
• Forming enticing, fully stocked, and easily shoppable sections.
• Handling orders for the dairy and frozen categories, as well as managing inventory levels accurately for deli and meat items.
• Directing efforts towards managing margin, COGS, and department profitability by implementing strategies to minimize shrinkage and improve purchasing practices.
• Confirming that the specifications of products currently in inventory meet the company's expectations.
• Managing and making inquiries about exclusive product demands.
• Implementing retail strategies with the use of merchandise shelves, endcaps, and dynamic presentations.
• Overseeing and partaking in tagging, organizing displays, rotating products, tidying up, marking down prices, restocking items, and managing extra inventory in storage.
• Overlooking the training and supervision of department personnel by assigning tasks and following up on their progress.
• Joining forces with other departmental leaders to organize staff training sessions covering a range of tasks for increased task accomplishment.
• Showing through hands-on activities and observational sessions.
• Providing assistance in conducting interviews and recruiting to cater to departmental needs.
• Assisting the store manager with managing performance and disciplinary issues within the department.
• Procedures for starting and ending the store's daily operations, which consist of preparing DSR and following the cash closing process.
• Performing duties related to register operations, such as providing backup cashier support, overseeing merchandise returns, addressing customer issues, and managing register shift transitions, including those specifically for breaks.
• Maintaining a secure environment for customers and employees.
• Managing disturbances to the smooth functioning of a business, including handling loiterers, solicitors, unexpected weather disturbances, and inappropriate restroom behavior, is sometimes necessary.
• Meeting company standards in responding to customer inquiries, which may involve incorporating Structure/Function statements or statements highlighting the nutritional value of products.
• Continuously improving knowledge about different products.
• Employing SAP along with inventory management software, conducting report analysis via BEx, sending emails, and utilizing other IS applications as necessary.
• Working a schedule based on store needs which includes evenings, weekends, holidays. Position requires working five days, 40 hours per week and attending mandatory store meetings.

Qualifications of Dairy Team Manager:

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to obtain forklift certification.
• 1-2 years of experience in retail experience in a grocery or retail environment preferred; natural foods background is a plus.
• 1-2 years of experience supervising others preferred.
• Ability to pass food safety training courses and/or certifications as required by law and maintain compliance by keeping certifications up to date and registered if applicable.
• Ability to manage changing priorities and to stay focused with the task at hand.
• Sense of urgency in the completion of tasks.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Highly organized with great attention to detail.
• Ability to take direction and follow through.
• Must be cashier trained and able to count currency.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook

Physical Requirements of Dairy Team Manager:

• Should possess the capability to continuously lift or move items weighing up to 10 lbs, frequently handle items weighing 11-20 lbs, and occasionally manage items weighing 21-50 lbs. Also, needs to have the capacity to occasionally lift or move items weighing 51-100 lbs with the support of a team.
• Must showcase the skill to regularly push or pull loads of up to 15 lbs. and occasionally push or pull items within the 16-100 lbs. range.
• Proficiently managing data entry tasks and operating the mouse on the computer when needed is a must.
• Ongoing walking, standing, fine motor manipulations, gripping, bending, twisting, turning, and outward reaching are necessary for the duration of the shift.
• Ability to consistently reach overhead is essential.
• Must be capable of sitting, squatting, kneeling, and climbing when the situation demands.
• Dealing with sharp tools and equipment, dust, fumes, and working in tight spaces are common requirements for this position.
• The job role may entail occasional exposure to noise, chilly temperatures, hot conditions, wet environments, humidity, outdoor settings, heights, and physical stress.
