Job Summary of Cashier Team Member:
As a Cashier Team Member, your key objective is to provide customers with an exceptional checkout experience characterized by fast, precise, and friendly service. Maintaining proper transaction handling and a neatly organized front-end area are fundamental to your role. Additionally, answering customer questions, engaging in charity campaigns, and following all company guidelines and procedures are essential to creating a secure, effective, and enjoyable shopping experience.
Responsibilities of Cashier Team Member:
- Perform all customer transactions swiftly and accurately
- Remember to provide proper modifications and verification of all purchases made.
- Ensure you are aware of the cost of items and their locations in the store.
- Welcome visitors and deliver prompt, respectful service and help.
- Inform customers about the charitable campaigns and promotional packages they can participate in and benefit from.
- Safely and efficiently package customers' orders by using requested reusable or paper/plastic bags in an organized manner.
- Make sure that the front-end space, including the registers, conveyor belts, and adjacent floor area, is clean and organized.
- Remember to follow safety procedures when managing money and using the register equipment.
- Follow all specified protocols related to register procedures, returns, voided sales, and legitimate overrides.
- Advise management of any equipment, pricing, or customer issues that arise.
- Support in restocking impulse buys and preserving the visual appeal of front-end merchandise showcases.
- Partner with the front-end team and other divisions to uphold high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Stand at the cash register throughout the scheduled shift, which could involve working over 8 hours daily.
- Be present at all scheduled times and arrive on time.
- Be ready to extend your working hours as instructed by your supervisor.
- Complete any other tasks as delegated.
Qualifications of Cashier Team Member:
- Those under 18 are not permitted to independently use register equipment.
- Proficiency in English involves the capability to read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and comprehend the language accurately.
- Capacity to complete basic math calculations by adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
- Ability to be upright and mobile for the duration of the scheduled work shift.
- Proficient in the physical handling of bending, twisting, reaching, and lifting up to 25 lbs. regularly, and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
- Skill in engaging with customers warmly and professionally.
- Ability to quickly and precisely handle multiple transactions in a fast-paced context.
- Skill in coordinating efforts with others and abiding by the company policies on punctuality and attendance.
