Janitor

Job Summary of Janitor:

You will contribute to making ShopRite a clean, safe, and friendly place for both team members and customers as a janitor. As assigned by store management, you will be in charge of carrying out janitorial and maintenance tasks across the shop to keep the floors, common areas, and restrooms as well as the fixtures clean and hygienic. Additionally, you will help with cart collection, trash management and recycling, and equipment maintenance in accordance with sanitary and safety regulations.

Responsibilities of Janitor:

• Maintain a clean, neat, organized, and safe store environment at all times.
• Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including all plumbing fixtures.
• Replenish restroom supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
• Clean floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, or vacuuming as assigned.
• Clean Associate breakrooms and other common areas as required.
• Monitor and restock cleaning supplies; notify management when inventory is low.
• Empty trash and recycling containers throughout the store and dispose of waste properly.
• Operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers and follow all safety protocols.
• Collect shopping carts from the parking lot and return them to the designated areas inside the store.
• Secure auxiliary doors when accessing exterior areas for cleaning or trash removal.
• Report equipment issues or unsafe conditions immediately to store management.
• Support other departments with maintenance-related tasks as assigned.
• Greet all Customers and provide them with prompt, courteous service and assistance.
• Observe safety and sanitation standards at all times, including proper chemical handling.
• Follow all store rules, policies, and procedures, including uniform and grooming standards.
• Perform duties in accordance with ShopRite Service Priorities (Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications of Janitor:

• Persons under the age of 18 are prohibited from handling baling machines, high-lows, electric pallet movers, and industrial floor sweepers.
• The capability to effectively read, write, converse, analyze, interpret, and comprehend English is essential.
• Capability to engage in simple mathematical calculations.
• Ability to remain upright and mobile for the extent of a scheduled shift.
• Proficiency in contorting, revolving, stretching, thrusting, dragging, and consistently raising 25 lbs., occasionally extending to 50 lbs.
• Ability to tolerate dust, cleaning agents, and various temperature conditions.
• Skill in working with cleansing solutions and abiding by safety guidelines consistently.
• Aptitude for interacting with customers amiably and supportively.
• Exhibiting the skill to engage in teamwork and comply with directives from higher authorities.
• Competence in meeting all scheduled commitments and observing time management protocols.
