Job Summary of Frozen Stock Associate:
Assisting the Frozen Stock Associate, the Dairy/Frozen Assistant plays a crucial part in the smooth operation and financial viability of the Dairy/Frozen department. Responsibilities include restocking, rotating, and managing inventory in the dairy and frozen sections to ensure freshness, availability, and visual appeal. This position involves tasks like receiving shipments, checking expiration dates, arranging product displays, and maintaining accurate pricing and labeling.
Responsibilities of Frozen Stock Associate:
- Making top-tier customer service the foremost focus.
- Setting a positive example by upholding integrity, accountability, and exceptional performance and complying with all guidelines.
- Establishing appealing, comprehensive, and easily shoppable divisions.
- Supporting the department manager by overseeing orders for the dairy and frozen departments and upholding precise stock levels.
- Supporting department managers in the management of margin, COGs, and departmental profit, which includes reducing shrinkage and enhancing the efficiency of procurement.
- Confirming that the quality and condition of in-stock items align with company standards.
- Arranging custom orders and ensuring their progress is monitored.
- Utilizing merchandising shelves, endcaps, and dynamic showcases.
- Supporting in overseeing and engaging in categorizing, frontal presentation, shifting, tidying, lowering prices, replenishing, and storing back-up supplies.
- Overseeing the training and task progress of department employees through assignment and regular check-ins.
- Active demonstrations require direct involvement from the presenter, whereas passive demos allow the audience to observe without participation.
- Engaging with the department managers to tackle performance challenges in the department.
- Providing support for the opening and closing procedures of the store, including responsibilities like compiling the Daily Sales Report (DSR), managing cash transactions, and ensuring completion of cashier closeout tasks.
- Tasks related to register functions include supervising backup cashier duties, processing returns for customers, dealing with customer concerns, and managing shifts at the register, including covering scheduled breaks.
- Upholding the safety and security of customers and employees.
- Responding to customer queries in adherence with company regulations, which may require the inclusion of health-promoting assertions or endorsements of nutritional value.
- Regularly enhancing familiarity with various products.
- Employing SAP alongside inventory management software, as well as utilizing email and other information systems software where necessary.
- The position mandates availability during times determined by the store's operational demands, such as evenings, weekends, and holidays. It involves dedicating five days to work, amounting to a full-time commitment of 40 hours weekly, along with obligatory attendance at store meetings.
- The position entails restricted responsibilities as a manager on duty and is not designed to assume full managerial control.
Qualifications of Frozen Stock Associate:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent preferred.
- 1 year of experience in grocery or retail environment preferred; natural foods background is a plus.
- 1 year of experience supervising others preferred.
- Ability to pass food safety training courses and/or certifications as required by law and maintain compliance by keeping certifications up to date and registered if applicable.
- Ability to manage changing priorities and to stay focused with the task at hand.
- Possess a sense of urgency in the completion of tasks.
- Possess excellent customer service skills.
- Highly organized with great attention to detail.
- Ability to take direction and follow through.
- Must be cashier trained and able to count currency.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
