Role and Responsibilities:

The Bakery Manager oversees the daily operations of the bakery department. This role ensures fresh, high-quality products, exceptional customer service, and efficient operations. Key responsibilities include:

• Service (40%)
• Create a welcoming environment where customers feel valued and appreciated.
• Ensure shelves are stocked with fresh products that meet company standards.
• Train bakery associates on product quality, inventory management, shelf conditioning, and customer service.
• Assist customers with product suggestions and fulfill special orders.
• Leadership (19%)
• Promote teamwork, trust, and clear goal-setting for sales, merchandising, and service.
• Communicate expectations effectively with the team.
• Develop schedules aligned with customer traffic.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies and federal/state regulations.
• Financial (20%)
• Complete administrative tasks such as scheduling, communications, pricing, and orders.
• Monitor inventory levels and ensure timely replenishment.
• Use production planning tools to optimize quality and minimize shrink.
• Store and display products at correct food-safe temperatures.
• Inspect and rotate products to ensure quality and freshness.
• Compliance & Safety (20%)
• Ensure compliance with USDA, food safety, and Country of Origin Labeling (COOL) standards.
• Implement and reinforce safety protocols in the bakery department.
• Report hazards, unsafe conditions, and incidents promptly.
• Ensure all associates use PPE and complete required safety training.
• Properly manage hazardous materials and bakery equipment.
• Additional Responsibilities (1%)
• Perform additional duties as assigned by store management.

Required Skills and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1–5 years of supervisory experience in a bakery or food service environment.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Authorization to work in the U.S.
• Food Safety Certification or ability to obtain within 180 days.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to operate bakery equipment such as slicers, ovens, and scales.
• Basic math skills for inventory and pricing tasks.
• Cake decorating and basic baking skills.
• Proficiency in bakery computer applications and inventory management tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Spanish language proficiency.

Physical & Environmental Requirements:

• Physical Demands: Standing, walking, manual dexterity, repetitive movements; lifting up to 35 lbs and up to 250 lbs with assistance.
• Work Conditions: Exposure to indoor/outdoor environments, cold/freezing and humid conditions.
• Safety Risks: Regular exposure to slippery floors, sharp objects, and hazardous equipment.
• PPE: Goggles, gloves, cutting gloves, fryer gloves, oven gloves, and back brace as required.

Work Schedule:

• Varied shifts including nights and weekends.
• Occasional travel; no overnight requirements.
