Job Summary of Produce Stocker:

As a Produce Stocker, your core duties encompass providing exceptional customer service by executing duties like tagging, replenishing, and rotating goods within the Produce Section. Your key role is to sustain a tidy, structured, and visually pleasing department that ensures the freshness, proper management, and appealing presentation of the produce items. You will also be instrumental in managing incoming deliveries, upholding food safety protocols, and assisting in operational functions within the department, all while advocating for organizational initiatives and delivering affable service to customers.

Responsibilities of Produce Stocker:

• Extend a warm reception to all patrons and deliver timely, respectful attention to their needs.
• Highlight special charitable offers available for customers to participate in.
• Ensure the work area is clean, well-arranged, and free of hazards to promote safety.
• Observe authorized methods for accepting deliveries, labeling with codes, housing, and stocking fresh produce to maintain their quality and longevity.
• Possess a thorough understanding of the diverse array of produce options, being able to recognize their distinct tastes, seasonal variations, recommended ways of consumption, as well as price disparities.
• Maintain the replenishment of items and the organization of display cases and retail spaces to enhance their visual appeal.
• Maintain the freshness, quality, and temperature of goods through the observance of safe food handling procedures.
• Follow the established protocol for managing spoiled or impaired products as per the Company's regulations.
• Perform regular tasks of lifting, pushing, pulling, and turning items that are 25 lbs in weight, occasionally reaching 60 lbs.
• Offload deliveries and convey products to the Produce Department utilizing the correct tools.
• Regularly monitor refrigeration and storage zones to verify their efficiency and promptly communicate any concerns observed.
• Ensure the appropriate use and care of department equipment and quickly communicate any issues with the equipment.
• Adhere to cleanliness guidelines by sweeping, mopping, and disposing of trash when necessary.
• Adhere to safety measures when using the baler and compactor.
• Comply with the Company's regulations concerning dress code, personal appearance, and the necessity of wearing specified uniforms, name badges, and hair covering.
• Utilize single-use gloves and comply with QA hand washing guidelines when dealing with food items.
• Ensure that all responsibilities are executed in alignment with Company guidelines, protocols, safety measures, and relevant state, local, and federal statutes.
• It is important to comply with the HAZCOM regulations and adhere to the recommended guidelines from the manufacturer when handling chemical products.
• Comply with the regulations pertaining to the labeling of the country of origin for produce items.
• Abide by the specified Company protocols for minimizing shrink in the Produce Department.
• Ensure attendance at all department training courses.
• Execute all responsibilities based on ShopRite's core service values (Safety, Hospitality, Appearance, and Effectiveness).
• Remain at the specified work station for the entire scheduled shift, which may go over 8 hours.
• Ensure punctuality and consistent attendance.
• Be willing to put in extra time when needed.
• Engage in cooperative efforts with others.
• Carry out any other assigned responsibilities.

Qualifications of Produce Stocker:

• Must be 18 years or older to operate balers, hi-lo's, power jacks, and slicing machines.
• Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.
• Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull, and regularly lift 25 lbs., and occasionally lift up to 60 lbs.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures, including refrigerated and high-moisture environments.
• Ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices, and powdered substances without negative effects.
• Ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents during routine housekeeping duties.
• Ability to interact with Customers in a friendly and helpful way.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to work all assigned work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies.
