Job Summary of Produce Team Associate:
As a Produce Team Associate, you will provide a positive client experience by pricing, stocking, and rotating items in the Produce Department. You will keep the department clean, organised, and visually appealing, ensuring that produce is fresh, handled properly, and exhibited well. You will also help with deliveries, adhere to food safety guidelines, and support department operations while promoting company initiatives and offering polite customer service.
Responsibilities of Produce Team Associate:
- Welcome each customer with a smile and ensure they receive prompt, courteous service and support.
- Advertise ongoing sales events that support charitable organizations for customers to take part in.
- Ensure a clean, organized, and safe working environment for all employees.
- Observe endorsed guidelines for receiving, code dating, holding, and resupplying produce to guarantee their quality and freshness are preserved.
- Demonstrate expertise in recognizing the differences between a variety of produce items, including their flavors, seasonal availability, recommended uses in cooking, and pricing discrepancies.
- Ensure that display cases and other merchandising spaces are consistently restocked, signed, and attractively organized.
- Oversee the freshness, quality, and temperature of products by following safe food handling practices.
- Carry out the necessary measures in accordance with Company policy for addressing spoiled or impaired items.
- Regularly manipulate and transport goods with a weight of 25 lbs, occasionally lifting up to 60 lbs.
- Transport deliveries and merchandise to the Produce Department using the correct equipment.
- Monitor refrigeration and storage facilities for optimal performance and report any problems detected promptly.
- Handle and maintain department equipment correctly and promptly notify of any equipment concerns.
- Sustain cleanliness standards by conducting activities like sweeping, mopping, and disposing of waste as required.
- Operate the baler and compactor while ensuring safety measures are met.
- Adhere to the Company's guidelines on attire and grooming, which include wearing the specified uniform, displaying the provided name badge, and following the regulations for hair covering.
- When working with food, remember to wear disposable gloves and adhere to quality assurance hand washing standards.
- Carry out all tasks in compliance with the Company's regulations, policies, safety protocols, and the prescribed local, state, and federal regulations.
- It is crucial to comply with HAZCOM regulations and follow the manufacturer's guidelines to ensure the safe handling of chemical products.
- Ensure that you are following the appropriate protocols for Country of Origin Label (C.O.O.L.) labeling on produce items.
- Abide by the Company's specified procedures for addressing shrinkage in the Produce Department.
- Meet all training obligations for the respective department.
- Complete all tasks in accordance with ShopRite's Service Priorities (Safety, Courtesy, Layout, and Effectiveness).
- Stay at the assigned workstation throughout the entire shift duration, which may exceed 8 hours.
- Consistently attend as scheduled and be punctual.
- Be willing to work beyond the standard workday when called upon.
- Collaborate effectively with others in a group setting.
- Comply with any other duties as designated.
Qualifications of Produce Team Associate:
- Must be 18 years or older to operate balers, hi-lo's, power jacks, and slicing machines.
- Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language.
- Ability to perform basic math.
- Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.
- Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull, and regularly lift 25 lbs., and occasionally lift up to 60 lbs.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures, including refrigerated and high-moisture environments.
- Ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices, and powdered substances without negative effects.
- Ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents during routine housekeeping duties.
- Ability to interact with Customers in a friendly and helpful way.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to work all assigned work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies.
