Food Service Team Leader

Job Summary:

As a Food Service Team Leader at Target, you’ll lead and inspire a team to deliver fresh, high-quality food and beverage experiences to our guests. You’ll ensure products are in stock, properly presented, and meet safety and quality standards while driving sales and guest satisfaction. This role combines leadership, operational excellence, and guest service, helping create an engaging shopping experience that reflects Target’s values and culture.

Roles and Duties:

• Lead daily operations of the Food & Beverage department to achieve sales and guest service goals.
• Plan and execute department transitions, sales plans, sampling, promotions, and price changes.
• Assign and oversee team tasks based on business priorities and guest traffic patterns.
• Ensure food safety, cleanliness, and compliance with all health and safety standards.
• Monitor temperature-sensitive products and maintain proper inventory levels and freshness.
• Train, coach, and develop team members to deliver outstanding guest experiences.
• Lead and maintain all Starbucks and/or Pizza Hut brand standards (if applicable).
• Collaborate with district partners to plan business objectives and ensure consistent execution.
• Foster a culture of ethical conduct, safety, inclusion, and compliance within your team.
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, and ongoing team development activities.
• Support other store operations such as cashiering, online order pickup, and drive-up services.
• Uphold Target’s brand standards and values through teamwork and guest engagement.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the store for extended periods.
• Lift or move merchandise weighing up to 40 pounds regularly.
• Climb ladders and handle products safely and efficiently.
• Work in varying temperature environments (from 34°F to -10°F) as needed.
• Work in areas where food allergens or varying humidity and temperatures may be present.
• Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a shift and work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Previous retail or food service experience preferred but not required.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and remain composed in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to guest service and operational excellence.
• Capability to operate handheld scanners, communication devices, and technology systems.
• Completion of Food Safety Manager Certification and brand-specific (Starbucks/Pizza Hut) training, if applicable.
