Job Summary of Store Team Member:
The Store Team Member reports directly to the store manager and indirectly to both the assistant store managers and shift leaders.This position is responsible for duties such as cashiering, stocking, cleaning, and monitoring perishables.The Store Team Member provides excellent customer service and assists in maintaining excellent daily store conditions. This position accomplishes all job duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities of Store Team Member:
- Manages a cash register proficiently and carries out checkout procedures at a level that meets or exceeds performance expectations. This entails achieving the minimum transaction time per item and accurately handling and counting various payment types such as cash, EBT, debit cards, credit cards, WIC vouchers, gift cards, coupons, and checks.
- Adheres to the guidelines and protocols for check-out and the proper handling of cash.
- Consistently achieves or surpasses the established benchmarks for handling, stocking, and maintaining grocery, frozen, dairy, smoked meat, and perishable products.
- Offers help in unloading deliveries from trucks.
- Sets up products on platforms, shelves, peg hooks, or in baskets, and refrigerated cases as per the stocking schedule.
- Organizes stock as necessary, ensuring the accuracy and quality of received items, both physically and in the inventory records.
- Rounds up abandoned shopping carts from the parking zone.
- Ensures the preservation of exceptional store conditions.
- Maintains a safe and tidy work environment for all employees.
- Undertakes cleaning tasks as assigned, which include the upkeep of floors, windows, display cases, shelves, register area, backroom, restrooms, parking lot, and various fixtures.
- Delivers excellent customer service, emphasizing friendly and courteous communication.
- Supports store managers in the training and development of other store team members.
- Controls the orderly circulation of products, ensuring that both time-sensitive and timeless items are managed appropriately.
- Ensures that products are properly labeled with price information and displayed in adherence to company-mandated guidelines.
- Guards the company against theft, damage, or loss of property, funds, and merchandise.
- Displays, trims, boxes, and refills accredited fresh vegetables and fruits efficiently.
- Assists with new hire orientation as necessary.
- Carries out additional responsibilities, including assisting in other store areas if required.
Qualification of Store Team Member:
- Participants must have attained the age of 18 years or older.
- It is recommended that applicants have a high school diploma or an equivalent degree.
- Established success in retail sales with a background in dry grocery, perishables, meat products, general groceries, cash management, and outstanding customer service highly valued.
- Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work well in a team.
- A requirement for the position is the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
- Showcase excellence in oral and written communication, along with effective interpersonal skills.
- Adequate knowledge of basic math operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division is necessary, along with basic computer skills.
- Demonstrating dependability and flexibility is key to ensuring availability for scheduled shifts and being willing to work in other areas of the store with minimal advance notice.
- Following safety procedures is imperative.
- Conforming to a standardized dress policy is essential.
Physical Requirements of Store Team Member:
- Requires the physical skill to reach, bend, balance, lift, and transfer a variety of objects weighing between 20 to 50 pounds repeatedly during the shift, with occasional items that may weigh between 50 to 80 pounds.
- Necessary to possess the capacity to stay on one's feet, walk, or move around for extended periods of time.
- The role requires individuals to have the skill to exert force, pull, hold, rotate, and perform sawing motions consistently.
- Consistently operates in cold storage units, refrigerated areas, and delivery trucks in various weather conditions both indoors and outdoors.
