Job Summary of Inventory Receiving Assistant:
The Inventory Receiving Assistant aids the Receiving Manager in overseeing the receiving department's daily activities. This role encompasses tasks like receiving, inspecting, and arranging incoming shipments. The Inventory Receiving Assistant must ensure that products are diligently tallied, correctly tagged, and placed in assigned locations in compliance with the company's standards.
Responsibilities of Inventory Receiving Assistant:
- Emphasizing world-class customer service as the foremost goal.
- Practicing ethical behavior, accountability, and exceptional performance and abiding by all rules.
- Helping the receiving department manager to accurately receive all incoming merchandise by verifying dates, checking for precision, and inspecting for damage.
- Examining all goods being received and shipped out.
- Setting up products in a manner that enhances the speed and ease of moving them to the sales floor.
- Accurate and timely completion of tasks involving purchase orders, return purchase orders, mispicked items, invoices, and paperwork.
- Studying and resolving all variations detected.
- Holding discussions with department heads regarding issues with deliveries and vendor out-of-stock situations.
- Ensuring that special requests are being processed accordingly.
- Handling forklift and pallet jack operations as demanded.
- It is imperative to maintain a clean and structured back room environment.
- Working alongside department managers to deal with performance problems in the department.
- Assisting with store commencement and cessation activities, comprising duties such as creating the Daily Sales Report (DSR) and managing cash transactions, in addition to overseeing the cashier closeout obligations.
- Overseeing register responsibilities that involve assisting with cashiering tasks, managing customer returns and exchanges, responding to customer complaints, and facilitating smooth register shift changes by providing coverage for breaks and other staffing needs.
- Keeping customers and staff members safe and secure is of paramount importance.
- Aiding in the training and observation of department staff members by assigning tasks and providing feedback.
- Demonstrating initiative by providing supplementary assistance and reinforcement in the store, and backing up on the sales floor after completing receiving tasks.
- Handling customer questions following the prescribed standards and policies of the organization, which may include utilizing Structure/Function statements or statements highlighting the product's nutritional support.
- Consistently boosting product awareness.
- Utilizing SAP and inventory management software along with email correspondence and any other relevant IS software as necessary.
- The position requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as per the store's scheduling requirements. Employees are expected to work 40 hours over five days each week and must attend mandatory store meetings as part of the role.
- Although this position has some managerial duties, it is not the primary manager on duty for the store.
Qualifications of Inventory Receiving Assistant:
- It is recommended to have completed High School, earned a GED, or its equivalent.
- Having worked in a grocery or retail environment, particularly in receiving, for a minimum of one year is preferred, and candidates with a background in natural foods are preferred.
- A year of experience in a supervisory role is advantageous.
- Gaining forklift certification is the process of acquiring the proper documentation to operate a forklift.
- Competence in fulfilling the requirements for food safety training certifications as compelled by legislation and maintaining compliance through consistent renewal and registration.
- Skill in prioritizing tasks and remaining focused despite changing circumstances is important.
- Prioritize tasks with a focus on speedy completion.
- Exhibit strong skills in delivering outstanding customer support.
- Known for their meticulousness and excellent organizational abilities.
- Competence in taking guidance and executing actions accordingly.
- Ability to operate as a cashier, including proficient currency counting skills, is a must.

Physical Requirements of Inventory Receiving Assistant:
- Must have the ability to constantly lift or carry up to 10 lbs., frequently lift or carry 11-20 lbs., and occasionally lift or carry 21-50 lbs. Must also have the ability to occasionally lift or carry 51-100 lbs. with a team lift.
