Role and Responsibilities:

As a Fresh Foods Clerk at Brookshire Grocery Company, you will engage with customers in a friendly and knowledgeable manner while preparing and maintaining deli products. Your role helps create a clean, safe, and inviting shopping experience for all customers.

• Greet and assist customers, take deli orders, and provide personalized recommendations.
• Prepare deli products including sliced meats, cheeses, salads, and sandwiches according to company standards.
• Maintain freshness of products, rotate inventory, and arrange attractive displays.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures consistently.
• Clean and sanitize deli counters, equipment, slicers, and workstations regularly.
• Receive, inspect, and stock deli items while monitoring expiration dates.
• Accurately process customer transactions at the deli register.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow during busy periods.
• Promote deli specials, seasonal offerings, and in-store promotions to increase sales.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to improve customer service and deli operations.

Required Skills and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in deli, food service, or retail is beneficial; training provided.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with a professional and approachable demeanor.
• Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
• Ability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Basic math skills for pricing and transaction handling.
• Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 30 pounds, and handle physically demanding tasks.
• Understanding of food safety and sanitation procedures (training provided if necessary).
