Role and Responsibilities of Merchandise Clerk:

As a Merchandise Clerk Associate, your main duties consist of providing superior customer service and ensuring excellent merchandising standards are upheld within the Center Store (Grocery) Department. Your primary goals will include driving sales growth and reducing shrink by effectively managing inventory and following established company guidelines.

• Uphold customer interest through the delivery of rapid, friendly, and precise assistance.
• Display friendliness and support to your associates.
• Monitor and regulate the levels of Specialty Merchandise Clerk products based on standard guidelines, overseeing inventory in the backroom and on shelves.
• Stick to the allocated shelf placements according to the plan-o-grams.
• Maintain timely restocking of newly received goods and tags within a week, following plan-o-grams for proper arrangement.
• Adhere to company protocols in handling the ordering, receiving, preparing, staging, and exhibiting of merchandise.
• Make use of organizational instruments such as the average cost inventory system (ACIS) and ordering software (CAO) for enhanced productivity.
• Follow the guidelines for food safety and workplace safety; observe and rectify any dangerous situations.
• Comply with Food Lion's policies for reporting accidents involving both associates and customers.
• Comply with the established dress regulations by dressing in accordance with the Food Lion uniform.
• Successfully complete the mandatory computer-related and additional training modules.
• Undertake additional tasks when assigned.

Required Skills and Experience of Merchandise Clerk:

• High school graduation or a comparable qualification is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills, adept at organization, communication, and delivering top-notch customer service.
• Capability and motivation to acquire new tasks and technical job specifications.
• Applying technical insights to streamline the resolution of challenges.
• Individuals must fulfill the designated age limitations for the position.
• Able to fulfill physical demands with or without necessary modifications.
• Proficient with computers and communication systems essential for performing job responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications of Merchandise Clerk:

• Competence in navigating inventory control tools and supervising grocery retail functions.
• Background in providing assistance to customers or organizing merchandise.
