Job Summary of Warehouse Receiving Assistant:

The Warehouse Receiving Assistant helps the Receiving Manager maintain efficient operations within the receiving department. Responsibilities include unloading deliveries, checking and organizing incoming goods, and ensuring each item is properly counted, labeled, and placed in the correct storage area following company procedures.

Responsibilities of Warehouse Receiving Assistant:

• Placing a strong emphasis on delivering exceptional customer experiences.

• Aiding the receiving department manager in the accurate reception of all incoming products by conducting checks for dates, precision, and potential damage.
• Supervising the flow of incoming and outgoing goods.

• Timely and accurate execution of tasks related to purchase orders, return purchase orders, mispicked items, invoices, and documentation.
• Reviewing and rectifying all divergences uncovered.
• Interacting with department supervisors to address delivery issues and vendor out-of-stock occurrences.
• Monitoring the fulfillment of distinct orders.
• Managing the operation of a forklift and pallet jack as per requirements.
• It is crucial to have a back room that is clean and organized.
• Working with department heads to rectify performance concerns within their teams.
• Assisting in the management of store opening and closing procedures, encompassing activities such as compiling the Daily Sales Report (DSR) and overseeing cash handling and cashier closeout duties.
• Overseeing register functions that involve backup cashiering, managing returns and exchanges, addressing customer complaints, and handling register shift changes, including providing coverage for breaks and ensuring smooth transitions between shifts.
• Ensuring the safety and security measures are in place for customers and employees.
• Assisting with the training and tracking of department personnel by assigning tasks and monitoring completion.
• Taking action to offer extra help and support in the store, and assisting on the sales floor after completing receiving tasks.
• Providing responses to customer questions in accordance with company guidelines, including the use of Structure/Function statements or statements that focus on the product's nutritional support.
• Steadily advancing product expertise.
• Utilizing SAP and inventory management software for managing inventory efficiently, as well as utilizing email communication and other IS programs when needed.
• The store requires employees to work a schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary. This full-time position involves committing to five days of work per week, totaling 40 hours, and attending mandatory store meetings.
• The primary function of this position is not to serve as the overall manager on duty but to handle specific duties within the store.

Qualifications of Warehouse Receiving Assistant:

• Having completed High School, obtained a GED, or a similar qualification is favored.
• Individuals with one year of experience in a grocery or retail setting, specifically in receiving, are preferred, and familiarity with natural foods is considered a plus.
• Preference is given to candidates with one year of experience in a supervisory capacity.
• Obtaining forklift certification is the capacity to complete the required training and evaluation for using a forklift.
• Attaining the essential food safety training certifications as per legal mandates, and preserving compliance by keeping certifications registered and up to date.
• Coping with evolving priorities and maintaining concentration on the current task is vital.
• Demonstrate a sense of urgency in task completion to meet deadlines effectively.
• Demonstrate superior customer service competencies.
• Highly systematic with an exceptional ability to pay attention to particulars.
• Ability to listen to instructions and successfully complete tasks.
• Required skills include cashier training and the ability to accurately count different denominations of money.
• Demonstrates expertise in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Physical Requirements of Warehouse Receiving Assistant:

• Must have the ability to constantly lift or carry up to 10 lbs., frequently lift or carry 11-20 lbs., and occasionally lift or carry 21-50 lbs. Must also have the ability to occasionally lift or carry 51-100 lbs. with a team lift.
• Must have the ability to frequently push or pull up to 15 lbs. and occasionally push or pull 16-100 lbs.
• Must be able to occasionally use the computer for data entry and use of mouse.
• Must be able to constantly walk, stand, use fine motor manipulations, grip, bend, twist, turn, and reach outward for the duration of the work shift.
• Must be able to frequently to reach above chest.
• Must be able to occasionally sit, squat, kneel, and climb as needed.
• Must be able to frequently work with sharp tools and equipment, dust, fumes, and congested worksite.
