Accountant

Job Summary:

H-E-B is seeking a driven and strategic Supervisor II, Accounting to lead a team of accounting professionals within our dynamic Finance & Accounting Department. As a key leader, you will guide day-to-day operations, develop team members, and ensure accuracy and excellence across complex financial processes that support every stage of our business from "Farm to Fork" and "Greenfield to Sunset."

Responsibilities:

Leadership:

• Supervise a team of accounting specialists, assigning and reviewing work, managing priorities, and ensuring timely, accurate deliverables.
• Foster a high-performance culture by coaching, mentoring, and developing team members to meet and exceed departmental goals.
• Lead change management initiatives and drive team alignment with departmental strategies and the broader company vision.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to build tailored solutions that balance speed, accuracy, and risk mitigation.
• Promote a culture of exceptional customer service, continuous improvement, and accountability.

Accounting & Analysis:

• Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting, account reconciliations, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Prepare and review complex reconciliations and financial analyses to identify discrepancies, root causes, and solutions.
• Apply deep knowledge of GAAP and regulatory practices to maintain compliance and recommend process improvements.
• Serve as a key contributor or leader on accounting-related projects, audits, and special initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
• 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
• 1+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience (preferred).
• In-depth understanding of GAAP and financial regulatory standards.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the business.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; experience with financial software tools and ERP systems.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
