Role and Responsibilities of Retail Department Manager:
Playing a key part in achieving financial and sales targets and nurturing positive relationships with both associates and customers
Take charge of the Grocery Department by managing the recruitment, training, and advancement of staff.
Direct the department's performance, provide coaching, and carry out formal appraisals.
Manage daily labor distribution to align with productivity benchmarks.
Cultivate an atmosphere that values exceptional customer service and strives to create a positive shopping encounter for all visitors.
Efficiently manage store expenditures by improving ordering practices, overseeing supplies, and maintaining equipment appropriately.
Make use of company resources like financial reports, ACIS technology, CAO supervision, scheduling mechanisms, and business data software.
Preserve the visual appeal, safety protocols, cleanliness, and adherence to food safety standards in the department.
Devise well-thought-out schedules to ensure continuous coverage for extraordinary customer support at all times.
Direct the activities related to the acquisition, delivery, arrangement, and exhibition of products.
Provide oversight and training to associates regarding loss prevention strategies.
Help ensure the accuracy of product quantities through participation in biannual physical inventory assessments.
Follow advertising and signage regulations imposed by local, state, and federal governments to ensure adherence.
Follow established safety guidelines and promptly report any accidents involving colleagues and clientele.
Ensure the satisfactory participation in and completion of all Computer-Based Training (CBT) and other specified training programs.
Recognize accomplishments and provide supportive coaching when required.
Undertake additional duties as instructed.
Required Skills and Experience of Retail Department Manager:
A preference is given to candidates with a high school diploma or its equivalent.
Remarkable skills in interpersonal relationships, organization, communication, and ensuring high-quality customer service.
Understanding of how stores function is desirable.
Skill in learning and applying various tasks and technical requirements relevant to the position.
Skill in tackling problems and utilizing technical data effectively.
The capacity to lead and direct others, showcasing strong leadership skills.
Meeting the age criteria specified for particular roles is necessary.
The accreditation as a Certified Food Safety Manager is essential for this position, or the candidate should be eligible to obtain it within 90 days of being hired and sustain this qualification during their employment in this capacity.
Physical Requirements of Retail Department Manager:
Competence in using computers and communication networks to fulfill job functions.
Employ handheld devices to carry out tasks such as ordering items, implementing discounts, and managing inventory.
Remain standing for extended periods while frequently engaging in short walks.
Using a pallet jack or float, move items weighing up to 2000 lbs. by either pushing or pulling them as needed.
Continuously lift and bend items up to 15 lbs., with frequent lifting of 25 lbs. and occasional lifting of up to 100 lbs.
Conduct repetitive hand and arm movements, encompassing reaching and gripping activities.
Take care of cleansing products, packing elements, and household detergents.
Endure hot or cold settings for durations of up to 20 minutes at a stretch.
Fulfill the established standards for both quantity and activity requirements.
Effective visual acuity for accurately processing invoices, dates, and other documentations.
