Job Summary of Grocery Stock Associate:
In your role as a Grocery Stock Associate, your primary duties include safely unloading and restocking grocery items while offering excellent customer service. Compliance with corporate policies, food safety regulations, and cleanliness standards is crucial to support store operations and ensure the grocery department remains well-organized and appealing. You will also assist with tasks such as receiving deliveries, organizing inventory, and providing friendly assistance to customers and colleagues.
Responsibilities of Grocery Stock Associate:
- Follow prescribed protocols for receiving, dating with codes, storing, marking with prices, arranging, and restocking items to ensure accuracy and quality standards are met.
- Properly deposit and stabilize delivered products in the relevant storage areas with the use of appropriate equipment such as power jacks, hand jacks, carts, U-boats, or bossies.
- Order and orientate all products in compliance with Company rules or assigned tasks.
- Use attractive signage to promote featured sale items and engage shoppers effectively.
- Adhere to department guidelines when organizing products that are faulty or inoperative on the shelves.
- Make use of CGO and portable devices to regulate inventory and place orders to manage product availability.
- Maintain cleanliness, tidiness, and safety in the work area.
- Preserve sanitation and quality assurance measures, including tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and disposing of cardboard and waste as necessary.
- Operate a baler or compactor while observing safety standards.
- Comply with the Local, State, and Federal statutes governing Night Crew operations in the performance of tasks.
- Conduct tasks in alignment with Company rules, policies, safety measures, and security protocols.
- Transport goods of varying weights, with a standard of 25 lbs and a maximum of 50 lbs, using methods such as lifting, pulling, pushing, and rotating.
- Support in the process of unloading trucks and transporting items to the Grocery Department as needed.
- Be present in the designated work location for the duration of the scheduled shift, which may extend beyond 8 hours a day.
- Keep track of item prices and maintain awareness of their whereabouts in the store for effective customer service.
- Adhere to the Company's standards for managing shrinkage in departmental operations.
- Abide by the company's rules regarding the reclamation and disposal of cardboard and plastic materials.
- Sustain departmental communication and engage with store leaders regularly.
- Support the department manager with any required tasks.
- Abide by the guidelines set forth by the Company regarding attire and grooming practices, such as wearing the prescribed uniform, prominently displaying a name badge, and keeping hair properly contained.
- Carry out responsibilities in alignment with QA hand washing requirements and use disposable gloves for food handling.
- Provide timely and polite service and support to all visitors.
- Obey all safety regulations when utilizing machinery.
- Implement Company policies concerning the treatment of flawed or returnable products, with particular attention to perishable and time-sensitive inventory.
- Examine refrigeration appliances for optimal functionality and inform appropriate personnel of any defects without delay.
- Gain a deep understanding of the various types of items carried in the store.
- Ensure the appropriate usage and upkeep of equipment and report any equipment malfunctions promptly.
- Attend and complete all departmental training programs as required.
- Execute all responsibilities in line with ShopRite's Service Priorities (Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency).
- Ensure you are prompt and regular in your attendance.
- Carry out tasks after regular work hours as instructed.
- Participate in joint efforts with colleagues.
- Complete tasks beyond assigned responsibilities.
Qualifications of Grocery Stock Associate:
- Must be 18 years or older to operate balers, hi-lo's, power jacks, and slicing machines.
- Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language.
- Ability to perform basic math.
- Ability to stand and walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.
- Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull, and regularly lift 25 lbs., and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures.
- Ability to work with fresh, dried, and/or processed products, spices, and powdered substances without negative effects.
- Ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents during routine housekeeping duties.
- Ability to interact with Customers in a friendly and helpful way.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to work all assigned work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies.
