Liquor Store Assistant

Role and Responsibilities:

As a Liquor Store Assistant, you will contribute to building customer trust and loyalty by delivering courteous service, maintaining efficient store operations, and promoting a professional and approachable environment. You will ensure compliance with regulations, provide outstanding customer service, and support the overall success of store operations. Key responsibilities include:

• Compliance (50%): Observe customers, verify age identification, refuse alcohol or tobacco sales to underage or intoxicated individuals, and prevent open containers from leaving the store.
• Customer Excellence (25%): Greet and assist customers politely, provide product recommendations when appropriate, and respond promptly to customer inquiries.
• Operational Excellence (25%): Stock and rotate products to maintain freshness, restock supplies efficiently, operate equipment and cashier systems accurately, maintain a clean and safe work environment, and report hazards or equipment issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Required Skills and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 0–3 years of relevant retail experience.
• Minimum age of 21 years.
• Completion of TIPS Training prior to start date.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English, with the ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening and background check.
• Adherence to all company policies and procedures.
• High integrity and reliability.
• Basic computer skills for completing online training.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Experience supervising in a retail setting.
• Additional certifications or training, including Cicerone Certification, Alcohol Compliance Training, Beer Science & Styles, Wine & Spirits Training, Cigar/Humidor Training, and other relevant modules such as cashier, service desk, grocery stocking, pricing, and MOD training.
