Responsibilities of Store Transaction Checker:
- Delivers quick, reliable, and welcoming customer service through exhibiting empathy, attentiveness, and tolerance in every customer interaction, valuing customers as the central focus in the store.
- Extends a friendly welcome and engages with customers in a pleasant manner, whether in the employee's designated department or elsewhere within the store.
- Makes a conscious attempt to learn and use the names of customers whenever engaging with them.
- Promptly answers phone calls and offers friendly and useful service to individuals seeking assistance over the phone.
- Engages in teamwork with co-workers to prioritize customer satisfaction and a positive work environment.
- Accurately manages the cash register and scans products as needed.
- The responsibilities consist of redeeming promotional coupons, food stamps, and WIC checks, issuing rain checks, handling various types of payments like cash, checks, and credit cards, completing credit card transactions, managing in-store charges, calculating discounts, providing accurate change, and issuing receipts to customers.
- Assists with packing items for customers, handing out packages, and aiding courtesy personnel when necessary. Addresses customer queries and issues, and collaborates with the relevant team members for solutions.
- Adheres to local, state, and company policies pertaining to the sales of tobacco, alcoholic beverages, and lottery tickets.
- Ensures that WIC and food stamp programs are in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Understanding the cost, identification numbers, departmental designations, and attributes of paid-for items is essential.
- Participates in stock control, handles merchandise rotation, upkeeps shelf presentation, understands shelf markers, identifies merchandise locations inside the store and storage area, and assists customers in locating requested items.
- Notices the immediate surroundings to anticipate customer needs and ensure the safety of the store.
- Ensures clear and distinct communication over the intercom or telephone system.
- Scrutinizes the store's weekly ad to monitor price shifts and promotional deals.
- Assists in keeping the register vicinity neat, ensures that there is an adequate inventory of supplies at the ready, identifies and reports any incorrect cash levels in the cash register, and assists in maintaining the store's overall appearance.
- Validates the cash register totals by cross-referencing them with the currency in the register to ensure accuracy at the beginning and end of the work shift, if necessary.
- Knowledgeable in providing customers with cash refunds or credit notes for returned items or knowing where to direct them.
- Practices proper sanitation measures and ensures the cleanliness and orderliness of the workspace are maintained at all times.
- Ensures strict observance of department and company guidelines concerning personal hygiene and attire. Adheres diligently to company policies and individual store rules.
- Shows up on time for work as required.
- Included in the secondary responsibilities are supporting store leadership as required, being knowledgeable about expiration dates on perishable items, replacing register tape and ribbons, helping out in different store departments, and carrying out other job-related duties and special projects as necessary.
