Job Summary of Deli Service Representative:

To deliver a great customer experience while assisting the Deli Service Representative in the daily operation in the Appy/Deli Department; to maintain a neat, clean and visually appealing department and to perform other tasks as required in an efficient and safe manner, within Company policy.

Qualifications of Deli Service Representative:

• Skillfulness in reading, writing, speaking, analyzing, interpreting, and understanding the English language.
• Skill in executing straightforward math processes.
• The ability to operate necessary equipment within the department, such as slicers, scales, can openers, wrapping machines, rotisseries, fryolators, cheese graters/cutters, case cutters, and stoves/ovens, is a fundamental requirement.
• Ability to sustain standing, bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and frequently hoisting 25-pound items, with occasional lifting of 50-pound objects.
• Competence to operate in fluctuating temperature circumstances.
• Capacity to handle fresh, dried, or processed products, spices, and powdered substances without suffering from any allergic consequences.
• Capability to manage exposure to dust and cleaning products while engaging in household cleaning routines.
• Proficiency in enduring standing and walking throughout the allotted work period.
• Capacity to engage with customers in an affable and supportive fashion.
• Skill in collaborating harmoniously with fellow team members.
• Competency to adhere to specified work shifts and follow attendance policies.

Responsibilities of Deli Service Representative:

• Use a slicer machinery along with its associated tools.
• Replenish Appy/Deli product.
• Set the stage for selling the Appy/Deli product.
• Adhere to authorized practices for receiving, labeling with dates, preparing, storing, marking with prices, organizing, and replenishing merchandise to guarantee quality, precision, and preservation of product rotation.
• Comply with Company procedures for addressing damaged and spoiled goods and assist in monitoring the quantity of impaired merchandise.
• Maintain ongoing communication with the manager or designated personnel concerning low inventory levels or spoilage concerns.
• Keep salad bowls and other showcases well-stocked and displayed correctly, following department standards.
• Perform regular assessments of refrigeration systems to confirm proper functioning; communicate any failures promptly.
• Adhere to departmental regulations for utilizing and managing equipment and promptly report any equipment malfunctions.
• Ensure the workplace is clean, organized, and safe to provide a conducive environment for productive work.
• Move packages from trucks to the Appy/Deli Department, dealing with merchandise that weighs around 25 lbs but occasionally goes up to 50 lbs.
• Undertake the regular handling and transportation of goods at 25 lbs, occasionally dealing with items at 50 lbs.
• Adhere to the Company's shrinkage guidelines specific to the operations of the Appy/Deli Department.
• Be certain to use equipment that is equipped with functioning safety mechanisms.
• Conduct duties with a focus on implementing secure practices.
• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness by sanitizing work surfaces, utensils, and equipment according to Department of Sanitation and QA guidelines.
• Maintain a clear and safe floor environment by eliminating debris and spills.
• Cross-reference the product received with the details stipulated in the invoice.
• Follow through with the product order as instructed by the department manager.
• Relocate trash to the assigned area for removal.
• Direct cardboard materials to the baler for processing while operating the equipment.
• Modify pricing according to the specifications outlined by the Department Manager.
• Presents items in a colorful and visually pleasing display to attract customers.
• Double verify the prices and be informed about where items are located in the store.
• Introduce customers to the ongoing promotions that support various charitable causes.
• Be upright at the work station for the entirety of the planned shift, which could exceed 8 hours each day.
• Being able to differentiate between the various types of merchandise entails understanding the diverse taste profiles, preparation techniques, and price discrepancies among similar classes of products.
• Regulate the inventory of cleaning supplies and sanitizing chemicals, and notify the manager when supplies are dwindling based on the prescribed procedures.
• Operate within the parameters of the Local, State, and Federal regulations specific to the Appy/Deli tasks.
• Carry out tasks in accordance with Company rules, policies, safety guidelines, and security protocols, and ensure compliance with health and civil code regulations prescribed by Local, State, and Federal authorities.
• Abide by the guidelines set by the Company for dressing and grooming, including wearing the approved uniform, presenting a name badge visibly, and utilizing appropriate headwear or hair accessories.
• Adhere to QA guidelines for hand hygiene practices and use disposable gloves when coming into contact with food.
• Execute responsibilities in accordance with the Company's HAZCOM system and adhere to the manufacturer's label guidance for the safe and appropriate utilization of all chemical products.
• Meet all departmental training program obligations.
• Maintain a commitment to Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency as outlined in ShopRite's Service Priorities.
• Maintain a consistent and timely presence at all required functions.
• Follow through with overtime responsibilities as directed.
• Collaborate in a group setting.
• Those who are 18 years or older are eligible to operate balers, forklifts, electric jacks, and cutting equipment.
• Take on any other assigned duties.
