Job Summary of Dairy Stock Clerk:
The Dairy Stock Clerk is responsible for assisting the Dairy/Frozen Manager in the successful operation and profitability of the Dairy/Frozen department.The Dairy Stock Clerk is responsible for stocking, rotating, and maintaining products in the dairy and frozen departments to ensure freshness, product availability, and visual appeal. This role involves unloading deliveries, checking expiration dates, organizing displays, and ensuring accurate pricing and labeling.
Responsibilities of Dairy Stock Clerk:
- Giving utmost importance to delivering outstanding customer service globally.

- Constructing inviting, well-supplied, and user-friendly areas.
- Collaborating with the department manager to order supplies for the dairy and frozen sections and uphold accurate inventory management.
- Providing support to department managers in the management of margin, COGs, and departmental profitability, with an emphasis on minimizing shrinkage and optimizing purchasing efficiency.
- Validating that all products currently available meet the established criteria of the company.
- Arranging custom orders and ensuring their progress is monitored.
- Retail shelves for merchandise, endcap presentations, and interactive displays.
- Supporting in overseeing and engaging in categorizing, frontal presentation, shifting, tidying, lowering prices, replenishing, and storing back-up supplies.
- Guiding and monitoring department personnel as they undertake their assigned duties and responsibilities.
- During active demonstrations, presenters actively seek feedback and answer questions, while passive demos are more focused on displaying the product features.
- Cooperating with department heads to manage performance problems within the department.
- Providing assistance with store opening and closing procedures, which involves tasks like preparing the Daily Sales Report (DSR) and managing cash transactions, in addition to completing cashier closeout responsibilities.
- Managing register operations includes overseeing backup cashier responsibilities, processing customer refunds, addressing customer complaints, and handling register shift changes, including coverage during scheduled breaks.
- Safeguarding the safety and security of both customers and employees.
- Adhering to company regulations when responding to customer inquiries, potentially including the use of health-supportive language or statements of nutritional value.
- Perpetually expanding one's knowledge base of products.
- Incorporating the use of SAP and inventory management software, alongside email communication and the utilization of other IS programs as needed.
- Working a schedule based on store needs which includes evenings, weekends, holidays. Position requires working five days, 40 hours per week and attending mandatory store meetings.
- The role has a set of manager on duty responsibilities that do not encompass overseeing the store's overall operations.
Qualifications of Dairy Stock Clerk:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent preferred.
- 1 year of experience in grocery or retail environment preferred; natural foods background is a plus.
- 1 year of experience supervising others preferred.
- Ability to pass food safety training courses and/or certifications as required by law and maintain compliance by keeping certifications up to date and registered if applicable.
- Ability to manage changing priorities and to stay focused with the task at hand.
- Possess a sense of urgency in the completion of tasks.
- Possess excellent customer service skills.
- Highly organized with great attention to detail.
- Ability to take direction and follow through.
- Must be cashier trained and able to count currency.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
