Role and Responsibilities:

The Bakery Team Member supports the daily operations of the bakery by preparing, packaging, and presenting fresh baked goods. This role focuses on food safety, product quality, and customer satisfaction. Key responsibilities include:

• Customer Service (60%): Create a welcoming atmosphere to build customer loyalty; maintain product freshness and availability; provide product details, samples, and suggestions; accurately fulfill special orders.
• Leadership (20%): Foster teamwork, trust, and open communication; ensure compliance with company policies and state/federal regulations.
• Financial (10%): Monitor inventory and report discrepancies; inspect and rotate products to ensure freshness; prepare, label, package, and display baked goods; use planning tools to reduce waste; maintain accurate food safety records and temperature logs.
• Compliance & Safety (10%): Follow food safety and sanitation procedures; comply with USDA, DOA, and COOL labeling rules; conduct recalls and withdrawals correctly; report hazards, incidents, or injuries; ensure proper use of bakery equipment and PPE; help resolve unsafe equipment issues.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English.
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening and background check.
• Strong customer service and communication abilities.
• Ability to safely operate bakery equipment, including slicers, ovens, scales, knives, and pricing tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Spanish language proficiency.
• 0–3 years of experience in retail, bakery, or food service.
• Proven integrity, reliability, and teamwork skills.

Physical & Environmental Requirements:

• Physical Demands: Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 35 lbs, occasional climbing (up to 10 ft), pulling up to 250 lbs with carts or pallet jacks, repetitive hand and foot movements, and use of sight, hearing, and smell.
• Work Conditions: Exposure to hot, cold, and humid environments; slippery surfaces; loud noise; sharp tools; hazardous equipment; occasional fumes, cleaning chemicals, dust, and allergens.

Tools & Equipment:

• General: Cleaning supplies, pricing guns, scales, scanners, pallet jacks, shopping carts.
• Bakery-Specific: Slicers, ovens, stoves, fryers, proofer, steamers, rotisserie, wrapping equipment.
• Preferred: Baler/compactor, ladders, wire cutters, box cutters.
• PPE: Goggles, gloves, cutting gloves, oven mitts, fryer gloves, back brace.

Work Schedule:

• Varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Occasional travel; no overnight stays required.
