Job Summary of Meat Clerk:

Ensure the proper handling, preparation, and presentation of meat and poultry products while providing exceptional customer service. Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization within the meat department.

Job Duties and Responsibilities of Meat Clerk:

• Weigh, tray, grind, wrap, and price meat and poultry products accurately.
• Operate department equipment including wrapping machines, slicers, scales, and pallet jacks safely and efficiently.
• Maintain proper merchandising, inventory levels, and eye-appeal of products in retail cases.
• Engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner, answer questions, and provide product recommendations.
• Follow laws and company policies regarding product handling, sanitation, and food safety.
• Stock, rotate, and consolidate products while maintaining cleanliness of work area and equipment.
• Assist Meat Cutters and Department Manager as needed, and participate in training programs for skill development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience of Meat Clerk:

• Previous retail or meat department experience preferred.
• Ability to follow food safety, sanitation, and handling procedures.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
• Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays in a 24 / 7 operation.
• Physical capability to lift up to 60 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive motions safely.
• 18 years of age or older; Food Handlers Certification required per state laws.

Salary

USD $16.75 - USD $28.95 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
