The Retail Support Manager plays a crucial role in the store's success by directing, training, and monitoring all department staff to ensure efficient operation and profitability.
Responsibilities of Retail Support Manager:
- Patrons are greeted and served according to the company's criteria for providing exceptional customer experiences.
- The role of company managers entails maintaining a professional demeanor and delivering appropriate leadership to the staff.
- Customer concerns are managed appropriately and in compliance with company guidelines.
- Customers will find the store to be an inviting and convenient place to shop.
- Customers can find the products they desire readily available.
- Special requests are handled properly and in accordance with the company's rules.
- Ensures that phone calls are handled following company regulations and allocates a significant amount of time to providing customer service, supervising employees, and addressing departmental needs while on the sales floor.
- Coaching staff on the provision of exceptional customer care and implementing mechanisms to hold them answerable for their service quality.
- Ensuring that the team is aligned with the mandatory state and county food safety certifications and registration.
- The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for ensuring that the store is meeting and/or exceeding expectations in the following areas:
- The correlation between sales figures and labor hours represented in the Sales per Labor Hour Ratio
- Mean Ticket Cost, Client Base, and Expenses for Produce Goods
- EBITDA
- Checks that products are ordered from the right suppliers to qualify for discounts and safeguard profit margins.
- Upholds company standards by securing consistent in-stock status
- Keeping track of the variety of products provided, including:
- Routine analysis of departments to preserve top sellers and discontinue products that are moving at a very slow pace
- According to company policy, the introduction of new products is required.
- Adheres to company standards by arranging and rotating perishable items accordingly.
- Markdowns are administered following the protocols set by the company.
- Accountable for assisting the Store Manager in recruiting, training, and overseeing all store staff to comply with company standards.
- Employees are instructed, tasked, and held responsible for completing assignments.
- Validates the accuracy, thoroughness, and alignment with store requirements of both master and daily schedules. Ensures schedules are posted in a timely manner and assigns daily tasks based on company task sheets.
- Collaborates with departmental leaders to deploy staff for daily task completion.
- Instructs and supervises the team to foster a holistic store perception and assist patrons in various sections.
- Assists department managers in training staff across different departments to achieve a wide range of tasks.
- Partners with staff to ensure adequate product knowledge to meet customers' needs, training staff on where to find answers to customer questions by utilizing store resources.
- Supports the Store Manager in concluding and executing all store staff performance reviews with feedback from department managers. Assists in approving wage enhancements if deemed suitable.
- Interviews and selects new hires in coordination with department managers to fulfill the store's workforce demands.
- Ensures that all performance and disciplinary issues are addressed appropriately and on time, collaborating with Human Resources as required.
- Upholds transparent and straightforward interaction with store staff, which involves aiding in the execution of monthly team briefings and sharing pertinent company news.
- Responsible for making sure safety guidelines are followed without exception.
- Ensures that edits to Ulti-time are done in a timely fashion.
- Accountable for aiding the Store Manager in educating, mentoring, and enhancing the capabilities of store associates.
- Staff members are urged to improve their comprehension of nutrition and product facts.
- Adhering to company policies, he or she ensures that customer inquiries are handled in accordance with guidelines, which may involve the use of Structure/Function statements and details regarding nutritional support.
- Fulfills operational duties effectively by overseeing daily schedules, checklists, and opening and closing processes.
- Verifies that all store paperwork and reports, including the Monthly Manager's Report, are concluded promptly.
- Efficiently handles the DSR and Manager's Cash, ensuring accuracy throughout.
- Addresses department manager calls during shifts and facilitates staff break arrangements.
- Managing business disruptions that may arise, including addressing loitering concerns, handling solicitation matters, responding to sudden weather emergencies, and ensuring appropriate use of restroom facilities.
- Adheres to a store-driven schedule that includes working evenings and weekends, and being scheduled for a total of 45 hours each week.
- Coaches employees on how to demonstrate backing for decisions taken by the home office, attentively listens to guidance from headquarters, and carries out job duties correctly.
- Processes and conforms to notifications (memos, facsimiles, emails) from the corporate headquarters while working from home.
- Demonstrates flexibility in response to changing job requirements for goal attainment.
- Managers are required to uphold a leadership role in the workplace, exemplifying the standard of excellence through their professional demeanor and job execution.
Qualification of Retail Support Manager:
- High school diploma or GED required 1-2 years management experience in grocery and/or related retail experience, natural foods industry a plus.
- Competent in handling changing focus areas.
- Being capable of fulfilling the prerequisites for food safety training and passing the necessary tests to obtain certifications as mandated by state and county legislation.
- Those operating forklifts must have the proper certification in place.
- Remain compliant by regularly renewing your food safety certifications through ongoing education and being officially registered with the appropriate agency if it applies to you.
- Has a knack for prioritizing tasks and completing them promptly, showcasing impressive organizational skills.
- Displays exceptional customer service capabilities.
- Ability to follow directions and fulfill them thoroughly.
- Adequately trained to work as a cashier.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook is a must.
