Stock Handler

Job Summary of Stock Handler:

As a Stock Handler at Hy-Vee, you will: Review the status and appearance of the merchandise for freshness Ensure an adequate product supply is ready and on hand and develop or follow a production list Anticipate product needs for the department on a daily basis Check in product, puts product away, and review invoices

Responsibilities of Stock Handler:

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store.
• Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the store. Makes an effort to learn customer's names and to address them by name whenever possible.
• Assists customers by: (examples include) Escorting them to the products they are looking for Securing products that are out of reach Loading or unloading heavy items Making note of passing along customer suggestions or requests Performing other tasks in every way possible to enhance the shopping experience
• Answers the telephone promptly when called upon and provides friendly helpful service to customers who call. Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Unloads trucks, opens containers, stocks shelves, runs overstock on risers and rotates product.
• Monitors for miss-picked items, reviews product outs, wrong deliveries, etc. Organizes stock for greatest efficiency, cleans and restocks damaged items. Tags the shelves with overstock in the back room and understock drawers. Reports all new or different items for the scanning coordinator for input into the system.
• Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress. Adheres to company policies and individual store guidelines.
• Reports to work when scheduled, on time, and works the scheduled number of hours.

Qualification of Stock Handler:

• Require the ability to solve concrete issues, work with different factors under specific guidelines, and understand and put into practice given directions.
• Competence in dealing with arithmetic tasks encompassing fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• The essential skills include the aptitude to interpret and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions, document identifying information, and communicate requests for supplies orally or in writing.
• High school or equivalent experience. Six months or less of similar or related work experience.

Physical Requirements of Stock Handler:

• The role demands the physical ability to carry out extremely challenging tasks, including exerting more than 100 pounds of force intermittently, over 50 pounds of force regularly, and over 20 pounds of force consistently to maneuver objects.
• Visual demands include vision capabilities extending from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet, with or without the use of corrective measures, encompassing skills such as depth perception, color recognition, and peripheral vision.
• The job necessitates the capability to conduct physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, listening, and engaging in repetitive movements.

Working Conditions of Stock Handler:

• Individuals in this role will be regularly exposed to dirt, noise, potential risks from machinery in operation, and contact with chemicals and solvents as part of their daily routine.
• There are instances when he must tackle temperature changes and the risk of experiencing electric shock.

Tools and machinery utilized in the performance of tasks:

• Seen in various business settings, power jacks, compactors, order machines, check registers, forklifts, scales, and Tomra machines are indispensable tools for smooth operations
