Job Summary for Deli Staff:

The Deli Staff provides friendly, efficient service by slicing, packaging, weighing, and selling deli products, including meats and cheeses. This role ensures the deli area is clean, well-stocked, and visually appealing while assisting members with product selection and special orders.

Chief responsibilities, primary duties, and essential tasks:

• Provide unparalleled member service by addressing inquiries, making suggestions, and accepting customized orders.
• Carve, weigh, and package deli products including meats, cheeses, and prepared items for retail display.
• Support members in selecting products by presenting them with a curated assortment of samples to assist in decision-making.
• Ensure that deli shipments meet quality and freshness criteria upon receipt.
• Manage the stocking, turnover, and advertising of deli merchandise in accordance with food safety protocols and freshness guidelines.
• Check for expired inventory daily and adhere to the designated disposal or recovery procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness by regularly disinfecting and sanitizing deli equipment and work surfaces.
• Safely and accurately use slicers, scales, and rotisserie ovens in operation.
• Accurate scale systems are essential for maintaining correct pricing and labeling procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all BJ's policies and procedures is consistently upheld.
• Execute other duties as assigned, which may include aiding in different departments when required.
• Being present regularly and predictably is crucial for success in this position.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a deli or food service environment preferred.
• Preference will be given to individuals with experience in operating slicers, scales, and related deli machinery.
• Expertise in deli offerings and guidelines aimed at preserving food freshness and cleanliness.
• An individual must be 18 years or older to qualify.

Environmental Job Conditions:

• Persistent periods of staying on your feet and moving on rigid grounds.
• Sporadic occurrences of bending, reaching, and lifting items weighing up to 30 pounds (heavier objects may require assistance).
• Operate in environments with diverse temperature influences as a result of being in close proximity to ovens, freezers, and coolers.
• Periodic interaction with sanitation solutions.
