Job Summary of Fresh Produce Manager:
Manage and direct the activities and responsibilities of the Produce Department in order to attain revenue and profitability targets. Preserve superior quality and freshness of goods alongside upholding exceptional presentation standards. Educate, guide, and energize team members to offer exceptional service and streamline operational processes.
Responsibilities of Fresh Produce Manager:
- Engage with the Store Director in creating a tailored merchandising plan for the department.
- Implement endorsed procedures for maximizing space efficiency in the Produce Department by considering consumer behavior, popular product preferences, and revenue potentials.
- Coordinate the purchase of merchandise and monitor stock levels to prevent shortages and excess inventory while increasing revenue potential.
- Follow established guidelines for accepting goods, labeling prices, and replenishing inventory to uphold quality standards, accuracy, and proper product turnover.
- Control department expenses.
- Initiate strategies to combat and minimize losses from theft and shrinkage.
- Properly educate, plan, and manage the schedules of other employees in the produce department.
- Maintain a consistent schedule for implementing cleaning and preventive maintenance tasks for showcases, rear storage coolers, and refrigeration machinery.
- Develop a welcoming atmosphere that appeals to customers by emphasizing cleanliness, attractiveness, and friendliness within the department.
- Comply with the established protocols and guidelines of the company.
- Uphold and present mandated records and documentation.
- Stay observant of the local variables and competitive movements that impact the operations and performance of the produce section and ensure regular communication with others.
- Ensure strong lines of communication are established in the store, particularly within the produce department and company-wide.
- Enforce adherence to the guidelines set forth in the company's Sanitation, Safety, and Security Program.
- Comply with the requirements of weights and measures laws at the local, state, and federal levels, in addition to health department regulations.
- Show courtesy to every client and pay attention to their needs.
- Evaluate merchandise to verify its quality, quantity, and shelf-life.

- Develop a weekly agenda taking into account anticipated sales figures and work requirements.
- Follow the guidelines outlined in the company's dress code policy to present oneself in a well-groomed manner.
- Supervise the salad bar department's activities.

Qualifications of Fresh Produce Manager:
- High school education a minimum requirement.
- Ability to read and write to properly tag merchandise, order and maintain inventory and to insure proper rotation of product.
- Above average analytical skills necessary to study and interpret various reports to keep the department profitable.
- Should have at least two years experience as a produce clerk.
- Must have excellent oral and written communications skills for dealing with customers, employees and vendors.
- Must have dexterity in hands to enable trimming and packaging of produce.
- Ability to unload, transport, and place merchandise in their specific areas.
- Must be able to lift up to fifty (50 pounds up to fifty percent (50%) of the time.
