As a Checkout Associate, your role involves delivering pleasant and effective checkout service, ensuring precise handling of customer transactions, and upholding a tidy and orderly workspace. Your responsibilities also include enhancing customer satisfaction by offering assistance and advocating for outstanding service quality.

Responsibilities of Checkout Associate:

• Adhere to and comply with all regulations and protocols set forth by the organization.
• Clean Service Desk/Kiosk.
• Always ensure that you present yourself in a tidy and well-kept manner and adhere to the personal appearance guidelines set by the company.
• Provide support for specific assignments and carry out additional tasks as directed by management.
• Adhere to the company's management planning principles to uphold operational efficiency.
• Uphold and adhere to all safety protocols mandated by the company.
• Notify about any necessary equipment repairs or maintenance required. Maintain a clutter-free work environment to prevent safety risks.
• Treat every team member equitably, with honor, and in a respectful manner.
• Conduct precise price verification tasks.
• Regulate the overconsumption of store essentials like ribbons, receipt paper, bags, and cleaning supplies.
• Document any price inconsistencies or unlisted items found on the electronic point-of-sale system onto specified forms and promptly initiate price verification procedures as per company guidelines.
• Confirm every customer's identification and adhere to store regulations regarding the acceptance of checks and the purchase of tobacco/alcohol.
• Follow the company's guidelines regarding a surplus of cash in the registers and initiate a cash pickup as outlined in the company policy.
• Adhere to security protocols by remaining vigilant and attentive to the actions and conduct of patrons.
• Notify a manager or security personnel of any strange conduct.
• Perform the processing of a wide range of accepted store transactions such as cash, checks, authorized Accounts Receivable sales, Electronic Payments, WIC, coupons, gift cards, bottle credits, refunds, lottery, and Western Union in adherence to company protocols and regulations.
• Always ensure the register is secure when unattended and safeguard company resources continuously.
• Ensure the proper utilization and upkeep of equipment and promptly notify authorities of any malfunctions or defects that arise.
• Uphold consistent adherence to cleanliness and hygiene guidelines as outlined in store regulations and state and municipal health protocols.
• Have a thorough understanding and the capability to distinguish between the different types of fresh produce available in the store, including recognizing variations within the same category such as different types of apples or varieties of lettuce.
• Often engage in cashier and customer service duties.
• Fulfill additional responsibilities as required

Qualifications of Checkout Associate:

• Proficiency in communication and customer service abilities are crucial for success in interactions with clients and customers.
• There is a necessity to meet the prescribed age criteria for certain job responsibilities.
• Proven capability and eagerness to acquire a diverse range of responsibilities and technical proficiencies necessary for the position.
• Displayed proficiency in carrying out the technical obligations associated with the position.
• Welcome and assist all patrons with swift and polite service.
• Deliver exceptional and approachable customer assistance.
• Efficiently and accurately input the customer's purchases into the cash register by scanning them.
• Obtain payments from clients using cash, checks, or digital transactions and provide precise change based on the organization's guidelines.
• Issue refunds to customers and staff following established protocols.
• It is necessary to fulfill the physical demands of the job, even with the option of reasonable adjustments.
• Adhere to Anti-Money Laundering protocols when handling transactions involving Western Union, money orders, prepaid cards, and check cashing.
• Prerequisite Training:
• Training packet for Cashier/Service Associate has been successfully finished

Physical Requirements of Checkout Associate:

• Use hands to frequently/continuously handle currency (paper and coin) as well as operate a variety of equipment such as cash register, lottery machine, scanner, computer, and calculator.
• Bend and lift products weighing up to 15 pounds continuously, 25 pounds frequently, and 50 pounds on occasion.
• Push or pull up to 75 pounds on occasion.
• Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level; occasionally above shoulder or below waist level.
• Meet established volume activity standards for the position.
• Have sufficient visual acuity to check ID cards, checks, invoices and other written documents.
• Stand 100% of the time with occasional walking short distances.
