Supporting the Produce Manager, the Produce Department Clerk contributes to the operational effectiveness and financial prosperity of the produce section.

Responsibilities of Produce Department Clerk:

• Prioritizing the delivery of exceptional customer experiences.
• Showing integrity, accountability, and outstanding performance while sticking to all policies.
• Crafting an enticing and efficient area within the store where customers can easily find and buy a wide array of fresh fruits and vegetables.
• Collaborating with the produce department manager on inventory control and ordering procedures to uphold accurate stock levels.
• Supporting the department manager in managing margin, COGs, and the department's profitability by reducing shrinkage and maximizing purchasing effectiveness.
• Ensuring the smooth operation of the department each day involves the important task of maintaining a fresh, full, and abundant produce rack throughout the day.
• Picking out, enhancing the crispness, spinning, and properly storing fruits and veggies.
• Assuring that the procurement and receipt of produce are limited to items with organic certification.
• Checking to guarantee that the in-stock merchandise aligns with the company's quality expectations.
• Cleaning tools and equipment to meet health department and company standards for hygiene and safety.
• Undertaking the reception of incoming produce orders according to the specified guidelines of the company.
• Handling exclusive orders and their subsequent progress.
• Aiding in the guidance and supervision of personnel in the department.
• Performing interactive and observational demonstrations.
• Helping the department supervisor in managing and improving performance levels within the department.
• Operations include managing register tasks such as backup cash handling, processing customer returns, resolving complaints, and coordinating register shift changes, including those for scheduled breaks.
• Safeguarding the well-being and security of customers and employees.
• Handling customer inquiries as per company regulations, which may entail using structured statements or explanations concerning the functions and nutritional support provided by the products.
• Regularly upgrading knowledge about products.
• Incorporating email and IS programs as necessary.
• When no other qualified staff member is around, you might find yourself responsible for completing DSR and carrying out the closing cash protocols.
• Working a schedule based on store needs which includes evenings, weekends, holidays. Position requires working five days, 40 hours per week and attending mandatory store meetings.
• The responsibilities of this position do not encompass the full range of duties required as the manager on duty for the store.

Qualification of Produce Department Clerk:

• The ideal scenario involves having a high school diploma, GED, or an equivalent qualification.
• Preference is given to candidates who have spent one year working in a grocery, retail, or produce environment, with additional value placed on a natural foods background.
• Preference given to candidates with one year of supervisory experience.
• The importance of successfully completing food safety training courses and certifications as stipulated by law, and ensuring that certifications are current and registered where necessary, cannot be overstated.
