The Meat Utility Worker supports the Meat Department by maintaining stock levels, replenishing products, and providing excellent service to guests. This role involves wrapping meat and seafood, maintaining food safety standards, and ensuring the department is clean, organized, and well-stocked. It requires teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities of Meat Utility Worker:
Assist guests in locating items on or off the sales floor.
Receive, prepare, and fulfill guest orders and special requests.
Provide courteous and professional guest service both in-person and over the phone.
Wrap meat and seafood using appropriate packaging materials.
Ensure accurate pricing, rotation, and removal of expired products.
Inspect and maintain proper temperatures and freshness of displayed meat products.
Maintain adequate stock levels of meat department supplies.
Keep accurate food safety logs and follow safety and sanitation guidelines.
Support teammates and contribute to a positive work environment.
Ensure quality and quantity standards are met daily.
Report safety concerns and follow all safety policies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience of Meat Utility Worker:
Ability to work effectively with customers and team members.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of safety requirements and safe work practices.
Experience using meat department equipment such as slicers and compactors.
Ability to recognize and respond to potential safety hazards.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Stand for long periods and perform bending, stooping, and kneeling tasks.
Frequent lifting up to 80 pounds.
Exposure to cold environments such as freezers and coolers.
Repetitive hand and wrist movements.
Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Work Schedule:
The Meat Utility Worker position may be part-time or full-time, with shifts that include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
