Role and Responsibilities:

As a Meat Artisan at Whole Foods Market, you will perform duties related to the cutting, preparation, display, and selling of meat products while ensuring excellent customer service and adherence to food safety standards. You will also support the team by mentoring others and promoting store initiatives.

• Slice, exhibit, and merchandise assorted meat products like beef, pork, lamb, veal, and poultry.
• Develop specialty meat offerings including sausages, oven-ready products, and preserved meats.
• Confirm that merchandise aligns with the quality standards outlined by Whole Foods Market.
• Organize sampling programs to minimize the chances of spoilage.
• Offer mentorship and support to Trainee(s) currently mastering meat cutting skills.
• Provide exceptional customer care, attend to customer needs promptly, and demonstrate effective suggestive selling methods.
• Amplify sales potential through the careful implementation of prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising procedures.
• Uphold the standards for health, sanitation, Weights and Measures, and safety measures.
• Guarantee a clean and healthy workplace and retail area, and maintain equipment according to guidelines.
• Conduct opening, midday, and closing procedures to validate the precision of signs and pricing.
• Ensure that safety hazards and violations are reported promptly.
• Follow through with tasks as mandated by store, regional, or national leaders.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

• Possessing more than a year of retail expertise.
• The successful conclusion of the Whole Foods Market Butcher Apprentice Program, or an equivalent educational program, is a fundamental requirement (with potential exemptions in the UK).
• Mastery of the processes and procedures governing the meat department.
• Masterful cutting capabilities, including expertise in dividing products into sub-primal and retail cuts with precision.
• Knowledge of the characteristics of diverse fruits and vegetables and adeptness in their appropriate storage, preparation, and cooking methods.
• Proficiency in visually inspecting products to ensure quality and freshness.
• Strong communicator with a penchant for working harmoniously in teams.
• Proficient in time utilization, adept in organization, and skilled in following instructions and procedures.
• Commitment to natural foods and Whole Foods Market's principles.
• Proficiency in adapting to and thriving in a fast-paced work environment with a sense of urgency.
• Awareness of and commitment to achieving the quality standards at Whole Foods Market.

Compensation and Benefits:

The hourly rate for this role is between $18.50 and $30.20, depending on experience and calculated based on a standard 40-hour work week. Whole Foods Market includes a comprehensive benefits package under the name Whole Benefits, which may involve:
