Job Summary of Dairy Clerk:

In the role of the Dairy Clerk Assistant, the individual assists the Dairy Clerk Manager in ensuring the Dairy/Frozen department operates successfully and profitably. Responsibilities include stocking, rotating, and managing products in the dairy and frozen departments to maintain freshness, availability, and visual attractiveness. Tasks involve receiving deliveries, checking expiry dates, organizing displays, and ensuring accurate pricing and labeling.

Responsibilities of Dairy Clerk:

• Providing world class customer service as a number one priority.

• Creating inviting, full and shoppable departments.
• Assisting the department manager in ordering for the dairy and frozen departments and maintaining accurate inventory levels.
• Assisting the department managers in managing margin, COGs and overall department profitability including minimizing shrink and maximizing effective purchasing.
• Ensuring all in-stock products/conditions meet company standards.
• Offering and following up on special orders.
• Merchandising shelves, endcaps and dynamic displays.
• Assisting in managing as well as participating in tagging, facing, rotating, cleaning, markdowns, stocking, and backstock.
• Assisting in training and monitoring of department personnel including assigning and following up on tasks.
• Conducting active and passive demos.
• Working with the department managers to address performance issues within the department.
• Supporting store opening and closing activities including Daily Sales Report (DSR) and cash handling and cashier closeout responsibilities.
• Handling register functions including backup cashiering, managing customer returns, addressing customer complaints, and covering register shift changes, including those for scheduled breaks.
• Maintaining the safety and security of customers and employees.
• Answering customer questions per company standards and policies, including the use of health supportive statements and/or statements of nutritional support.
• Continually increasing product knowledge.
• Using SAP and inventory management software, emailing and utilizing other IS programs as needed.
• Working a schedule based on store needs which includes evenings, weekends, holidays. Position requires working five days, 40 hours per week and attending mandatory store meetings.
• This position has limited manager on duty responsibilities but is never intended to be the overall manager on duty for the store.

Qualifications of Dairy Clerk:

• Applicants are advised to have a high school diploma, GED, or a comparable qualification.
• Preference will be given to candidates who have worked for at least a year in a grocery or retail environment, particularly if they have experience with natural foods.
• One year of supervising others is a desirable qualification.
• Successfully fulfilling the requisite food safety training requirements and certifications as stipulated by law and staying in compliance by renewing certifications and ensuring proper registration when required.
• Skillfully navigating changing priorities while staying dedicated to ongoing responsibilities.
• Cultivate a mindset that prioritizes efficiency and promptness in task completion.
• Show expertise in dealing with customers effectively.
• Exceptionally structured with a strong focus on precision.
• Showing competence in understanding guidance and completing tasks accordingly.
• Cashier experience and proficiency in currency counting are essential qualifications.
• Possesses advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

Physical requirements of Dairy Clerk:

• Must have the ability to constantly lift or carry up to 10 lbs., frequently lift or carry 11-20 lbs., and occasionally lift or carry 21-50 lbs. Must also have the ability to occasionally lift or carry 51-100 lbs. with a team lift.
• Should be able to frequently push or pull objects weighing up to 15 pounds and occasionally handle items from 16 to 100 pounds.
• The occasional requirement to use a computer for activities like data entry and mouse manipulation should be anticipated.
• The job demands continuous movement such as walking, standing, using delicate hand motions, grasping, bending, twisting, turning, and extending reach for the entirety of the shift.
• The job demands the ability to regularly reach above chest level.
• Need to be able to sit, squat, kneel, and climb intermittently as necessary.
• Regular exposure to sharp tools and machinery, dust, fumes, and crowded work areas is required.
• Should be comfortable handling occasional noise, cold, heat, wetness, and humidity, as well as being exposed to outdoor settings and elevated areas.
