Deli Assistant

Job Summary of Deli Assistant:

The main duty of a Deli Assistant is to attend to customers courteously in the deli section and satisfy their order requirements. They are responsible for providing exceptional customer service and preparing, slicing, weighing, packaging, and showcasing deli items such as meats, cheeses, and salads. Maintaining a hygienic work space, following food safety guidelines, and ensuring that all products are fresh, correctly labeled, and appealingly presented are also part of this position's responsibilities.

Responsibilities of Deli Assistant:

• Employ cutting tools, weigh, evaluate, and set prices in a respectful fashion.
• Meet customers requirements when preparing orders.
• Move deli goods from delivery trucks to storage spaces as part of stocking procedures.
• Make sure shelves are consistently maintained and cases are consistently filled up.
• Ensure product freshness by employing coding methods and rotating inventory consistently to eliminate out-of-date items every day.
• Clearly display the prices of each product following the pricing manual.
• Curate a selection of fresh arrivals and unique weekly discounts.
• Introduce customers to recently launched products and weekly discounts.
• Make sure to communicate any issues with temperature control in the storage zones to the overseeing manager.
• Obey the regulations and instructions in place for the department.
• Offer a friendly greeting to every patron and be watchful.
• Observe and respect all company policies specified in the Employee Handbook.
• Comply with the store's, as well as the local and state health regulations, by implementing a systematic cleaning and sanitization routine.
• Assist in the preparation of heated dishes and all other food varieties.

Qualifications of Deli Assistant:

• Must have strong communication skills for dealing with customers.
• Must have basic math skills for weighing and pricing products.
• Must have dexterity in hands to enable slicing and preparing of all deli products.
• Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds up to twenty percent (20%) of the time.
