Job Summary of Produce Inventory Clerk:
As a Produce Inventory Clerk, you will deliver a great customer experience while pricing, stocking, and rotating merchandise in the Produce Department. You will maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing department, ensuring produce is fresh, properly handled, and attractively displayed. You will also assist with deliveries, follow food safety standards, and support department operations while promoting company initiatives and providing friendly customer service.
Responsibilities of Produce Inventory Clerk:
- Offer a friendly welcome to each patron and ensure they are promptly assisted with politeness and respect.
- Share information about current charitable promotions for customers to get involved with.
- Foster a work setting that is orderly, clean, and safe for everyone.
- Stick to approved processes for accepting, encoding with dates, stockpiling, and replenishing produce to assure their quality and freshness.
- Exhibit knowledge in recognizing and discerning between different kinds of produce, including their taste distinctions, seasonal fluctuations, optimal culinary uses, and pricing discrepancies.
- Keep the supply of products in display cases and other retail sections replenished, labeled, and visually attractive.
- Safeguard the freshness, quality, and temperature of goods through the utilization of safe food handling practices.
- Implement the prescribed steps in the Company policy for dealing with items that have been damaged or spoiled.
- Repeatedly handle, shift, and revolve goods weighing 25 lbs, occasionally managing loads of up to 60 lbs.
- Handle the unloading of deliveries and transport items to the Produce Department using the necessary tools.
- Verify the functionality of refrigeration and storage facilities through regular inspections and quickly report any issues that arise.
- Properly handle and sustain departmental equipment while swiftly reporting any equipment difficulties.
- Perform tasks like sweeping, mopping, and waste removal to sustain sanitation standards.
- Use the baler and compactor following the prescribed safety guidelines.
- Adhere to the Company's standards for attire and personal grooming, including dressing in the specified uniform, displaying the assigned name badge, and following the guidelines for hair restraint.
- Adhere to QA hand washing standards and use disposable gloves when working with food products.
- Conduct all responsibilities in accord with Company regulations, policies, safety prerequisites, and the applicable local, state, and federal mandates.
- It is necessary to observe the HAZCOM procedures and adhere to the manufacturer's recommendations for the safe usage of chemical products.
- Familiarize yourself with and observe the stipulations regarding Country of Origin Label (C.O.O.L.) requirements for produce items.
- Observe and implement the Company's instructions for managing shrinkage in the Produce Department.
- Attend and complete all department-specific training programs.
- Adhere to ShopRite's core service values (Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency) when performing all duties.
- Be stationed at the designated workstation for the entirety of the shift, which could extend beyond 8 hours.
- Consistent attendance and timeliness are essential.
- Be prepared to extend your work hours as designated.

Qualifications of Produce Inventory Clerk:
- Must be 18 years or older to operate balers, hi-lo's, power jacks, and slicing machines.
- Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language.
- Ability to perform basic math.
- Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.
- Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull, and regularly lift 25 lbs., and occasionally lift up to 60 lbs.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures, including refrigerated and high-moisture environments.
- Ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices, and powdered substances without negative effects.
- Ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents during routine housekeeping duties.
- Ability to interact with Customers in a friendly and helpful way.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to work all assigned work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies.
