Role and Responsibilities:

As a Deli Department Associate at Brookshire Grocery Company, you will assist customers with a welcoming, knowledgeable approach while preparing and maintaining deli products. You will help ensure a safe, clean, and enjoyable shopping environment.

• Greet customers, take deli orders, and provide recommendations to enhance their shopping experience.
• Prepare deli products such as sliced meats, cheeses, salads, and sandwiches following company standards.
• Maintain product freshness, rotate inventory, and create appealing displays.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and hygiene protocols consistently.
• Clean and sanitize deli counters, equipment, slicers, and workspaces regularly.
• Receive, inspect, and stock deli items while monitoring expiration dates.
• Process transactions accurately and efficiently at the deli register.
• Work collaboratively with team members to maintain smooth operations during busy periods.
• Promote deli specials, seasonal products, and in-store promotions to drive sales.
• Participate in team meetings and support initiatives to improve customer service and department performance.

Required Skills and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in deli, food service, or retail is advantageous; training is provided.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with a professional, approachable demeanor.
• Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Basic math skills for pricing and handling transactions.
• Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 30 pounds, and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures (training provided as needed).
