Produce Store Manager

Job Summary of Produce Crew Manager:

Supervise and coordinate the functioning of the Produce Department to meet sales and profit objectives. Ensure products maintain superior quality and freshness, coupled with impeccable merchandising practices. Mentor, lead, and inspire staff members to offer exceptional customer service and enhance operational effectiveness.

Responsibilities of Produce Crew Manager:

• Coordinate with the Store Director to design a unique merchandising strategy for the department.
• Observe accepted methods for organizing the Produce Department space efficiently by aligning with consumer patterns, demand fluctuations, and profit margins.
• Organize merchandise purchasing and supervise stock levels to reduce shortages and surpluses, ensuring sales are maximized.
• Follow recommended procedures for accepting merchandise, pricing items, and replenishing stock to ensure quality assurance, accuracy, and timely product rotation.
• Control department expenses.
• Undertake efforts to address and curb shrinkage and pilferage losses through appropriate actions.
• Effectively mentor, coordinate, and monitor the tasks of other employees in the produce department.
• Abide by the predetermined schedule for cleaning and preventative maintenance on showcases, backroom coolers, and refrigeration machines.
• Maintain a favorable department image and culture with customers by prioritizing cleanliness, attractiveness, and friendliness in the atmosphere.
• Adhere strictly to the company's policies and procedures at all times.
• Ensure the maintenance and submission of required records and reports.
• Stay abreast of local market conditions and competitive strategies in the produce department to ensure others are kept in the loop.
• Encourage the maintenance of effective communication in the store, particularly within the produce department and throughout the organization.
• Verify that all company regulations regarding Sanitation, Safety, and Security are being upheld by the staff.
• Meet the standards set by local, state, and government weights and measures laws, along with health department guidelines.
• Address every customer with a friendly greeting and remain alert.
• Scrutinize products to ascertain their quality, quantity, and freshness.
• Manager floral department.
• Establish a weekly plan in accordance with predicted sales volume and the amount of work to be done.
• Abide by the dress code policy set forth by the company to maintain a professional and organized look.
• Run the operations of the salad bar segment.
• Highlight the significance of supporting initiatives that prioritize safety and accident prevention.
• Assess price levels to stay competitive.

Qualifications of Produce Crew Manager:

• High school education a minimum requirement.
• Ability to read and write to properly tag merchandise, order and maintain inventory and to insure proper rotation of product.
• Above average analytical skills necessary to study and interpret various reports to keep the department profitable.
• Should have at least two years experience as a produce clerk.
• Must have excellent oral and written communications skills for dealing with customers, employees and vendors.
• Must have dexterity in hands to enable trimming and packaging of produce.
• Ability to unload, transport, and place merchandise in their specific areas.
• Must be able to lift up to fifty (50 pounds up to fifty percent (50%) of the time.
