By joining the Retail Operations team in the Deli Bakery Department, you will be part of Food Lion’s mission to deliver excellent service, maintain departmental standards, and support sales growth while minimizing shrink.

Role and Responsibilities:

As a Sales Associate, you will provide quality customer service within the Deli Bakery Department. You will ensure product quality, sanitation, and merchandising standards are followed while maintaining a welcoming and customer-focused environment.

• Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with fast, friendly, and accurate service.
• Be courteous and helpful to other associates.
• Follow technical manuals for product processing, labeling, and placement.
• Oversee ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and display of merchandise in compliance with policies and guidelines.
• Ensure proper sanitation of department, equipment, and food handling/preparation areas.
• Use company tools, including ACIS (Average Cost Inventory System) and CAO ordering system.
• Understand and adhere to company guidelines, policies, and standard practices.
• Follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety policies while identifying and correcting unsafe conditions.
• Report all associate and customer accidents per Food Lion procedures to the Manager on Duty.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
• Wear the Food Lion uniform with name badge, maintaining a neat and professional appearance in accordance with the company dress code.
• Successfully complete Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packets, and Training Aid courses.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience:

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and job-specific technical requirements.
• Ability to use technical information to solve problems.
• Must meet minimum age requirements for job functions.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to use computers and communication systems required for job functions.
• Perform repetitive hand and arm motions.
• Bend and lift products up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Push or pull up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
• Stand for entire shifts with frequent short-distance walking.
• Handle substances related to cleaning and packaging materials.
• Perform frequent reaching and grasping at waist level; occasional reaching above shoulder and below waist level.
• Meet established productivity standards.
• Tolerate working in extreme hot or cold environments for up to 20 minutes at a time.
