Food Service Associate

Job Summary of Food Service Associate:

To enhance customer satisfaction by delivering attentive, amicable, and informed service, addressing customer inquiries and offering suggestions through suggestive upselling; support the Food Service Manager in the daily functions of the Food Service sector; uphold a tidy, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing department with emphasis on the proper preparation and safe management of items retailed across the department; execute additional duties as needed in a proficient and secure manner in accordance with Company guidelines.

Qualifications of Food Service Associate:

• Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.
• Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 25 lbs., and occasionally lift up to 60 lbs.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures. Ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices and powdered substances without negative allergic consequences.
• Ability to tolerate dust and chemical agents during routine housekeeping duties.
• Ability to interact with Customers in a friendly and helpful way. Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to operate all equipment customarily used by the Food Service Department and other equipment as may be required. Ability to work all assigned work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies.

Responsibilities of Food Service Associate:

• Keep the work environment tidy, organized, and secure while following the sanitation and quality assurance guidelines to clean and sanitize tools and surfaces.
• Maintain a clean floor by removing any clutter or liquid spills. Welcome all patrons and offer them efficient and polite assistance. Advertise ongoing charitable campaigns to customers to encourage their participation.
• Ensure that products are consistently restocked, cleaned, organized, and rotated to uphold proper shelf, case, and display conditions.
• Follow established Company guidelines to prepare a variety of items such as salads, sandwiches, chicken dishes, pizza, and pasta, as well as catering orders, adhering to the provided recipes.
• Make sure that the appropriate temperatures are upheld in the display cases, steam tables, while heating and cooling products, and in all storage locations.
• Adhere to established protocols for accepting and maintaining merchandise to safeguard its quality and facilitate proper stock rotation. Process defective or unsellable items in accordance with organizational guidelines.
• Ensure that signs are in place on all products to inform customers about available options and ingredients. Keep equipment in good working condition as mandated by the department and promptly report any malfunctions.
• Carry out all responsibilities following the guidelines set by Local, State, and Federal regulations concerning the Food Service operation.
• Adhere to the guidelines set forth by the company, including rules, policies, safety protocols, and security measures, as well as complying with all health and civil code regulations at the local, state, and federal levels.
• Utilize necessary machinery within the department such as slicer, scale, can opener, wrapping machine, rotisserie, fryolator, cheese grater/cutter, case cutter, and stove/oven.
• Adhere to established protocols when accepting, labeling with expiration dates, readying, organizing, shelving, and tagging merchandise to uphold standards of excellence, precision, and item circulation and safety.
• Adhere to the Company's regulations on attire and personal presentation, following guidelines for wearing the designated uniform, name tag, and appropriate head covering or hair accessories.
• Adhere to quality assurance handwashing protocols and utilize disposable gloves when managing food items. Engage in lifting, pulling, pushing, and rotating equipment and products weighing 25 lbs. on a routine basis, with intermittent lifting of items up to 60 lbs.
• Transfer goods from trucks to the Food Service Department that weigh 25 pounds.
• Sometimes, it tips the scales at 60 pounds.
• Be present in the Food Service Department throughout the assigned shift, which could extend beyond 8 hours daily. Comprehend and follow the Company's guidelines on reducing losses in connection to Food Service activities.
• Carry out responsibilities following the Company's HAZCOM guidelines and comply with manufacturer's recommendations on labels for the safe and correct utilization of chemical substances.
• Engage in all relevant departmental training sessions. Carry out all tasks following the designated ShopRite Service Priorities (Safety, Hospitality, Appearance, and Productivity).
• Be punctual and attend work consistently. Be prepared to work additional hours when requested. Collaborate effectively with teammates. Individuals must be at least 18 years old to use specific equipment like balers, forklifts, and slicers. Fulfill any additional tasks as required.
