Job Summary of Receiving Handler:
At ShopRite, your duties as a Receiving Handler will include precisely receiving and confirming inbound deliveries and making sure that goods are appropriately checked in, recorded, and stored. You will keep the receiving area neat and orderly, deal with damaged and return-to-stock items in accordance with corporate guidelines, and interact with department teams in an efficient manner. Additionally, you will support inventory procedures, help ensure that invoices are accurate, and interact politely with team members and vendors.
Responsibilities of Receiving Handler:
- Receive and unload incoming deliveries in a safe, efficient, and organized manner.
- Verify all invoices for accuracy, including cost, retail, and quantity.
- Ensure product is accurately matched to purchase orders and documentation.
- Handle damaged or return-to-stock products in accordance with Company policy.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and organized receiving area at all times.
- Monitor storage areas for cleanliness, organization, and compliance with food safety standards.
- Follow all procedures for proper code dating, rotation, and storage of merchandise.
- Assist in tracking inventory discrepancies and reporting variances to appropriate personnel.
- Utilize power or hand jacks, carts, and other equipment as required for receiving and transporting goods.
- Communicate effectively with department managers to ensure proper handling and distribution of received items.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when operating equipment or handling merchandise.
- Complete all applicable training programs and maintain knowledge of company receiving procedures.
- Perform duties in accordance with ShopRite Service Priorities (Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency).
- Work cooperatively with others and support store operations as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications of Receiving Handler:
- It is necessary to be at least 18 years old to be eligible to operate balers, hi-lo's, power jacks, and similar machinery.
- Capability in the English language entails the expertise to analyze, interpret, and communicate ideas clearly.
- Mastery in executing foundational arithmetic tasks.
- Ability to be vertical or in motion for the entirety of the designated work period.
- Tasks include standing, bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and regularly lifting objects of 25 lbs, with the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Skillful in working in diverse temperature ranges, such as refrigerated storage sites.
- Capability to work with fresh, dried, or processed goods, seasonings, and pulverized materials without experiencing any adverse effects.
- Ability to handle exposure to dust and cleaning agents while performing household chores.
- Aptitude in engaging with clients and suppliers in a professional and courteous way.
- Showing proficiency in working collectively with teammates and following prescribed work schedules.
