Job Summary of Produce Stock Clerk:

It is the responsibility of the Produce Assistant to assist the Produce Manager in the efficient operation and financial viability of the produce department.

Responsibilities of Produce Stock Clerk:

• Ensuring that offering world-class customer service is the primary goal.

• Assisting in the procurement process and inventory management for the produce department under the guidance of the manager.
• Helping the department manager in supervising margin levels, COGs, and the overall financial health of the department by cutting down on shrinkage and improving purchasing efficiency.
• Taking care of the department's needs on a daily basis includes the task of making sure that the produce section is always stocked with fresh, abundant items throughout the day.
• Selecting, keeping fresh, turning, and effectively storing fruits and vegetables.
• Guaranteeing that only produce with organic certification is requested and brought in.
• Ensuring that the conditions of all in-stock items comply with the company's regulations.
• Meeting the requirements of cleanliness as outlined by the health department and the company when cleaning tools and equipment.
• Receiving incoming produce orders in compliance with the set standards and regulations of the company.
• Assisting with unique orders and their completion.
• Assisting in the development and supervision of department employees.
• Carrying out live and recorded demos.
• Partnering with the department manager to deal with performance challenges in the department.
• Tasks include supervising register functions such as backup cashier duties, processing customer refunds, addressing client concerns, and ensuring coverage for register shift substitutions, including scheduled breaks.
• Preserving the well-being and security of customers and staff alike.
• Providing responses to customer concerns based on company policies, including the use of structured explanations on the functions of items and their nutritional support.
• Continual growth in product familiarity.
• Making use of email and IS programs as deemed essential.
• In situations where there is a lack of available trained personnel, the responsibility of finishing DSR and conducting the closing cash procedures may fall on you.
• Working a schedule based on store needs which includes evenings, weekends, holidays. Position requires working five days, 40 hours per week and attending mandatory store meetings.
• This job has some manager on duty tasks, although it is not meant to fulfill the role of the main manager on duty in the store.

Qualification of Produce Stock Clerk:

• Having a high school diploma, GED, or a comparable credential is advantageous.
• Experience of one year in a grocery, retail, or produce sector is preferred, and familiarity with natural foods is considered advantageous.
• Supervisory experience of one year is desirable.
• Adherence to the requisite food safety training courses and certifications as prescribed by law is vital, and keeping certifications valid and registered when required is essential for compliance.
• Capability to manage evolving priorities and remain focused on the immediate objective.
• Execute tasks with a sense of haste and importance.
• Exhibit top-notch skills in serving customers.
• Highly methodical and precise, showing a keen eye for detail.
• Aptitude for receiving direction and carrying out tasks effectively.
• Successful candidates must have experience in working as a cashier and be proficient in currency counting.
