Seafood Team Member

Role and Responsibilities:

As a Seafood Team Member, you will assist with daily operations in the seafood department, ensuring product freshness, food safety, and outstanding customer service.

• Provide courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable service to customers.
• Maintain and stock seafood cases, ensuring products are rotated, labeled, and displayed properly.
• Assist customers with seafood selection, preparation tips, and special requests.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and labeling guidelines.
• Monitor product quality and remove unsellable items promptly.
• Support seafood team leadership in achieving sales, margin, and labor goals.
• Assist with inventory control, backstock organization, and department cleaning tasks.
• Adhere to all store and department standard operating procedures.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment with a sense of urgency.
• Willingness to learn seafood handling, cutting, and preparation techniques.
• Ability to follow directions, policies, and food safety procedures.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Desired Work Experience:

• Retail, grocery, or food service experience preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Standing/walking 6 8 hours per shift.
• Frequent bending, squatting, twisting, and reaching.
• Ability to work in wet and cold environments (refrigerators and freezers).
• Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
• Use of knives, cutting tools, and other seafood preparation equipment.

Compensation & Benefits:

Pay for this position typically starts at $15.00 per hour, with eligibility for Whole Foods Market's “Whole Benefits,” which may include health insurance, retirement plan benefits, store discounts, paid time off, and more. Eligibility is determined under the terms of the applicable plan at the time of hire.
