Job Summary of Store Worker:

Reporting directly to the store manager and indirectly to the assistant store managers and shift leaders, the Store Worker plays a vital role in handling tasks like cashier duties, restocking inventory, cleaning duties, and monitoring perishable items. Delivering exceptional customer service and aiding in the maintenance of the store's daily operations are core responsibilities of the Store Worker position. Adherence to company policies and procedures is essential for the store clerk to successfully carry out their job duties.

Responsibilities of Store Worker:

• Demonstrates proficiency in managing a cash register and executing checkout procedures at a level that meets or surpasses the expected performance standards. This includes achieving the minimum transaction time per item and accurately handling and counting various payment methods such as cash, EBT, debit cards, credit cards, WIC vouchers, gift cards, coupons, and checks.
• Executes transactions according to the designated check-out and cash handling procedures and policies.
• Maintains a consistent track record of meeting or exceeding the set standards for handling, stocking, and maintaining grocery, frozen, dairy, smoked meat, and perishable goods.
• Assists with the transfer of goods from delivery trucks to the designated area.
• Sets up products on platforms, shelves, peg hooks, or in baskets, and refrigerated cases as per the stocking schedule.
• Arranges items as needed while ensuring the precision and quality of the received goods, both in physical form and in the inventory system.
• Gathers and organizes carts in the parking lot.
• Ensures the upkeep of outstanding store conditions.
• Maintains a secure and organized work environment.
• Carries out assigned cleaning tasks that include maintaining the cleanliness of floors, windows, display cases, shelves, register area, backroom, restrooms, parking lot, and other fixtures.
• Delivers superb customer service that includes communicating in a friendly and polite manner.
• Assists in the training of store team members under the guidance of store management.
• Keeps track of the correct sequencing of products with and without specified expiration dates.
• Verifies that products are accompanied by appropriate price markers and are exhibited according to the regulations set by the company.
• Ensures the security of company resources, money, and inventory.
• Correctly showcases, slices, seals, and stocks permitted natural crops.
• Supports new personnel with their tasks as needed.
• Takes on supplementary tasks, including helping out in alternative store areas, as instructed.

Qualification of Store Worker:

• The minimum age requirement is 18 years or above.
• It is recommended that applicants have a high school diploma or an equivalent degree.
• Solid retail sales experience with a specialization in dry grocery, perishable goods, meat, general grocery items, cash control, and top-tier customer service preferred.
• Exceptional teamwork and adept problem-solving abilities.
• English literacy, writing, and verbal fluency are necessary skills.
• Show proficiency in verbal and written exchanges, while also demonstrating strong interpersonal capabilities.
• Competence in basic math abilities, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, as well as basic computer aptitude, is required.
• It is important to show consistency and adaptability to meet scheduled shifts and be open to helping out in alternative areas of the store with little to no prior warning.
• Adherence to safety standards is mandatory.
• Employees are required to follow a standardized dress guideline.

Physical Requirements of Store Worker:

• Requires the ability to reach, bend, balance, lift and transport various objects weighing 20-50 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift; at times, product weight could be 50-80 pounds.
• Must have the ability to stand, walk and / or move about for extended periods of time.
• Requires the ability to push, pull, grasp, twist and use sawing motions for extended periods of time.
• Regularly works in freezers, coolers, refrigerators, inside and outside of the store in all weather conditions and inside delivery trucks.
